Trevor, were you referring to our club's track events at Little Talladega or Atlanta Motor Speedway?

We (Georgia Z Club) use to rent the track at Road Atlanta and AMS for autoX events, but haven't done that in a few years. Our primary track events are now at Little Talladega, which has been repaved, so you shouldn't have to demolish 4-5 sets of tires within 3 hours anymore.

If you're wanting a larger track (such as Road Atlanta), here's a link that will give you info. on preparations, passing the tech inspections, and what to expect (Road Atlanta basically uses the same rules posted on this website): http://www.soloracer.com/trackguide.html. Also, keep in mind that sponsored events may require additional rules and regulations, which you'd need to obtain from each individual sponsor.

The SCCA, as well as local clubs, sponsor autoX events at Turner Field. Here's the SCCA's link if you would like additional info. on that: http://www.atl-scca.org/solo2.htm.

Hey Trevor,
Before you do any real mods on your car check out the autocross club near you and see what rules they use. This way you can build a car that fits properly in a class. If you are just doing the Modifications for your own pleasure , and aren't worried about how you would place in a certian class then your okay. I have a list of modifications put together by some racers
that could aide you in your choices. I am going to have to dig them up.

First things to do before heading out to any event is make sure your car is safe.
Seat time is the most important part of autocrossing.

Just remember to have fun !!

Trevor,

As mentioned before you really want to investigate the rules your club uses. Most are using the SCCA Solo II rules. that way you can travel around and know what class you will be in.

Buying some parts that out you in a class that makes you uncompetitive is a very rough way to get started.

www.autocross.com is a great site to get you started. They should have some links available for clubs in your area. Check them out and go to a club event or meeting to get started.

Most clubs also have a Novice program to help get you pointed in the right direction. You might want to also consider going to one of the "Evolution Autocross School." These are held around the country. They have a link @ www.autocross.com also.

If you are any of the others are leaning more towards track events you might also want to check out www.trackschedule.com. This site has most of the DE events on the East Coast. These events are nice as you get an instructor to ride with you for up to four hours a weekend.

Which way to go depends on your budget. Either way you need to get out there and do something with your car. Both ways will make you a better driver.
