ok. you guys know how people view bmw drivers as a-holes who try to compenstate for having a small ***** and believe they own the world. and hondas with the fartcans and giant tachs. how do you think people view Z drivers (Z31 and up). Personally I've come across jokes saying they are pornographists' cars and mid age divorced guy's cars. What do you think?

A typical z driver now days usually only bought the car, because it looked "cool" or they are having a mid life crisis, or they dont know any better. personally I could give two ***** what some guy thinks of me or my car, stereotypes always play themselves out, thats how they get their name. Don't feel butt hurt, because we don't like honda's mazda's or mitsubishi's.

Well whatever it is, it can't be as bad as what people say about Ducati riders lol. I actually don't care anymore.....I just buy what I like, I don't care about what other people think. And if you think about it, people are generally stupid, so why would you care what they think anyway?

Beautiful cars, Ice! And, like what many of you stated, I could care less what someone thinks about my cars. As long as they make me happy, that's all that matters.

Yes barbie I agree, you pick a car to be happy, but sometimes it's fun to see how your happiness might be percieved by others as they have different view of being "car happy". Plus I've never heard about any z stereotypes and am interested to find out about their existence

Apples and oranges... Big difference between the Z31, Z32, and Z33 drivers. I personally buy and drive certain cars because I enjoy their engineering designs... not because of any "looking-glass-self" stereotype.

Hmm, you have a good point there. Perhaps posting this question on a non-Z Car or strictly older model Z Car forum will produce the response you are seeking. Want to try it and report back here with the results?

For the Z31 and below: Cheap, ghetto-rigged, go-fast for as little money as possible, etc.

nice new car ice!!! good to see you still have the s130 too!! ive gotten so much flak from my school mates and co-workers for driving even the datsun nameplate around. i really dont care what others say. im a nissan guy and it will stay that way. i can also appreciate other cars as well, every brand has some neat stuff at some point.

There is no shame in being a Datsun/Nissan enthusiast. Heck, Datsun pretty much invented the affordable, closed-roof, sports car, and the 240Z paved the way for the Japanese car industry as a whole. Before the Z, the Japanese were known for selling almost exclusively boring, boxy, little sedans. The Z showed they could make exciting, good-looking cars.

Of course I have redneck friends who think the only true performance cars have V8s.....but then again, they're idiots, so who cares?

Somethings wrong here, I fit Turboboost's stereotyp to a T.

I'll admitt my Z31 was all I could afford with some potential, but with a daily 40 mile round trip route to town and back with a pile of twisties, deer, and other critters I won't be too shocked if it goes off to the happy racetrack in the sky.

Meanwhile I keep spinning a wrench and replace wornout parts. Hopefully I'll get it to the point I can start upgrading before that deer jumps out in front of me.

I've not heard of any stereotypes, but I will vouch that I bought the car because it looked cool. After owning it, I was able to learn of it's history. I sold mine because it was far too big of a project for me, and I would prefer a slicktop. Thusly, someday soon, I will be a proud pornstar owner of a 280ZX. My last one was literally about to have its wheels fall off.

I'm not sure about the owners, but it seems everyone and their brother comes up to you and tells you how they or their brother or sister or uncle or dad used to have a Z (most of the time it's not even the same chassis Z)

What I like even better is when they get the year wrong, too XD (like a guy I talked to had a '76 260Z!)

A large percentage of the population has no idea theres a difference between a 280Z and a 280ZX. I see '83 "280Z"s on Ebay all the time.

i bought my zx because i like the look of the car, and it was turboed, and i felt bad because the poor car has been sitting in a junkyard for 16 years.

i personally dont care what people think of me i live in a hick state with a bunch of dumb rednecks running around hot rodding there diesels while i was sporting a 1990 mazda miata convertible ha ha
