steering wheel re-wrap

every option out there i've found for getting a new '90 steering wheel is at least $250, so i have decided to find a torn up one somewhere and try to wrap it myself. i'm not interested in the generic wrap from advanced auto where it doesn't cover the spokes. this is an all out deal!

i've found a few good write ups on how to do it, but my question is with the material. i have no idea where to get this leather, or how to describe it. the only name i've found for it is "full grain leather", meaning the skin is pretty much in tact and is shiny smooth. i figured it would be rough if it was the exposed skin, but the leather site i found says differently. idealy, i'd like it to look just like this:

so where do i get that stuff? nismopick?

and yeah, i realize that that nice.... perforated? stuff isn't wrapped on. the other stuff all around would suit me just fine.

^^^ I love the ///M steering wheels. My 530i has one.

I would start by calling your local auto reupholstering shop. I'm sure they know where to get it, or at least what the technical term is.
