Yes, your problems could be mold-related, like Z-Hag said. The mold can be any color though. Sometimes it can hide between the walls or under the flooring, where you don't see it, but only feel the affects. I've handled a few toxic mold litigation cases where the homeowners cleaned only the the visible surfaces and spread several coats of paint over those ares to hide the mold problem to the potential home buyers. Mold is caused by excessive moisture and/or water leaks.

I don't know if you were just joking, Jass, but if you weren't, how long ago did you move into this cottage, and are you renting, buying or currently own it?
