Other Z forums
During the past few weeks, I spent some time on a couple other Z sites. I must say that I'm not impressed. There seem to be lots of people on those sites and many members with loads of posts, but loads of attitude to go with not much knowledge. It seems that the members are telling people to do a search instead of providing information. I can understand the search thing on a no-brainer noob question, but many times it's a good question that is good to re-visit. I think I'll continue heading over there just for entertainment purposes. I want to see what they'll say next. This site is far superior. This is a much more close-knit community of z-drivers.

Well captured. I believe I know the sites you refer to.
To be honest, I have gathered some good info from those sites. Some of the members appear decent although they are few and far between. I much prefer Zdriver and the people here.

I do find this to be far better then the rest. I would mention a site that I had been frequenting when Zdriver was down but it felt like I didn't know anybody and only one out of hundred people on the forum knew what the hell they were talking about.

At least you got to keep your name. Mine was already takin' by somepillow biter in Texas. He wasn't no steer, so that pretty much narrows it down now, doesn't it. 91zxtt over there has 1 post.....1 friggin' post. Just delete him. He'd never know.

Naw, the "s" is after the r not after the y. That name goes back a long way. When I had my trucking and hazardous business, I had a smart assed employee and everytime I had to design something and build it he'd call it a "TinkersToy". So everything I built I labeled it "TinkersToyCo" and it sort of stuck.
Now that I've answered that, just what is a alternative lending specialist?? Is that like a loan shark.
Just kidding about the loan shark. I've also got a "check cashers" and defered deposit business at the carwash. We've been called "loan Sharks" by some.

Tinkers toy company is how I read it, but it never made sense without the story. Now it does.
I work for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in our Subprime Mortgage Lending Division. I do loans for people who have had credit problems (bankruptcies, foreclosures, reposessions, judgements, late payments , etc.) or who can't verify their income through traditional means. I enjoy it. Good pay. Good flexibility and stability.
I'm not a loan shark, but no offense taken. The place I worked at before this was pretty bad. I was fresh out of college, so I didn't know much about mortgages. It was nice to leave there. Funny story about the loan shark thing though.....I was working with a customer who was trying to buy a home for $199k. The appraisal only came back at $160k. The realtor was pissed. She wanted the sale bad and told the customer that I was a loan shark and the appraiser was an idiot. Apparently the realtor didn't understand that I get paid commission and my check would be bigger on $199k loan instead on $160k. Anyways,...to make a long story short, the customer filed a formal complaint with the board of realtors because the realtor was trying to sell her a home that was worth $39k less than she said it was. Stupid biatch.

There are always those instances where a home is worth more than what an appraisal shows. Not in this case. I keep checking on that $199k home, but it's been 8 months and it still hasn't sold. Eventually, the market will catch up to that price, but at the time, this home was waaaaaaaaaay over priced. I told the customer before we had the appraisal done that I thought she may be paying too much for that house. The sales contract was cancelled and my customer wound up finding a home 30 years newer that was 400 sq. ft. larger for $4k less. I get a customer for life; whereas the realtor gets a ding on her board of realtors record.
There's more to this story actually....the realtor came by my office shortly after I told her that the appraisal came in low. She dropped off several other 'comp sales'. Problem was that the homes she was comparing the subject to were much nicer, larger, newer, etc. All-in-all....not comps. As she left, she told me my job was to do what's best for the customer and get the appriasal to come in at $199k. She didn't like it much when I told her, "No, my job is not to put this customer into a home that is worth $39k less than what the sales price is set at. My job is to do what's best for the customer; which is what you should be doing." She stormed off and that's when I heard from my customer that I was called a loan shark.

My hat goes off to you 91... thats the way to treat a customer, because there are plenty people outhere trying to screw ppl over. i am with you on thet...since i started sales i have already gained customers for life, and not just that, they invite me to their kids birthdays, parties and what not. They buy the things i recomend since they know i'll get them the best value i can and just the fact that i've gained their trust after they purchased from me once makes me feel that i am doing my job right. I try and help out as much as possible, i even made some home calls to some of my customers who have purchased from me and helped them out with understanding the equipment and educating them, because there are a lot of rumors out there, and misguided information. The way i look at it if you are nice to me, i'll do anything i can for you, but if you are a dick, then go ahead and get screwed over by someone else
