Kickin it Old School
Sup guys...been a while so I thought I would post...
Well it has been a while but I am finally getting my green computer back together. For almost 4 years I ran a VIA P4B motherboard with a socket 478 Intel Celeron 1.8ghz cpu at 2.2ghz. It was fine for like 4 years and it probably shouldn't have lasted that long because I kept her well overclocked, but it worked well. The motherboard finally took a poo poo and blew 5 of the caps around the processor so I had to retire the computer some time back. I have been running one of my mothers spare PC's, a Celeron D 352. I haven't done anything with this computer as it is not mine.
I found an ASRock motherboard/cpu bundle on eBay and couldn't pass it up. She will be here tomorrow. It too is a socket 478, an ASRock P4i45GV motherboard and a Celeron 2.4ghz cpu. The thing is, this "new" cpu has alot more L2 than my "old" Celeron but I got it for the mainboard as I plan to up the cpu soon. One of my main reasons for getting the board is so I can again use my nVidia graphics card. It is a 2002 GForce4 Ti4600, The BFG Asylum card. I know...it's outdated stuff. I am a tweaker and an overclocker so I don't need...rather I can't afford the new trends of the week. This old stuff still has ***** and can perform well for what it is, just like my KZ440 LTD.
I have finished my upgrades to my Ti4600. I added a Tt heatsink and fan and also added Tt aluminum heatsinks to the Samsung memory modules on the graphics card. With my old setup, my green towers CPU temps would idle at 78*f (26*C) and under full load would top out at 110*f (43*C). I run five 80mm case fans, a 92mm Zalman cpu heatsink and fan plus the 80mm fan in the power supply. It's a loud case and I don't care...I like noise, gives me a reason to turn the music up.
When all is said and done my specs will be:
ASRock P4i45GV Mainboard
Intel Celeron 320 Socket 478 2.4ghz (will be overclocked)
BFG Asylum GForce4 Ti4600 Ultra AGP 4X (will be overclocked)
2 Gig DDR400 running as DDR333 (board limited)
Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu LED CPU Cooler
Soundblaster 16bit sound card (cheap and to the point) So I can play guitar
Twin 7800rpm 80gig WD HD's
The Beast Check out that piston!!
Stock BFG Ti4600
After my Thermaltake mods
The ASRock
