jim cooke didn't use that engine!

good stuff anyway. what do you do for a living now?

isn't it idling a little high? about 300 rpms too high?

i like all the interior mods. it really keeps the classic datson styling while adding some modern comfort and visual appeal.

wow... thats, pretty freaking gay dude.... im disappointed. i mean, you have A/C and a magnaflow muffler on an RB WTF is that!?!?!?! ew SICK!!!!!!!! lol in all seriousness though you pretty much did everything i would have if i had +20K to drop in an S30 other than i would have never thought of using porsche seats and brakes (though porsche's do come with some sick brakes so i def approve of that mix and match) and i vote drop the TT setup go single turbo with a bigger exhaust, and magnaflow? really? hehe....

so... got any numbers to share with us?

1. this is obviously not the Jim Cook restoration project. That car is still in the works. This is the car that put the JCR restoration project on hold for nearly 4 years...

2. if you can pull off a build like this with $20k, you're a better man than I am...

3. on the 11psi "break-in" tune it made 287 to the rear wheels. It has all forged internals and is "built" to handle around 700-750 crank hp, but I'll never run it up that high, considering how long it takes for a new part to come in from Japan... I plan to run it as high as it will go on 91 octane pump gas with a little margin of safety in case I somehow get stuck filling up at a Rotten Robbie with crap gas. Should be somewhere just short of 500 rwhp.

4. I like the sound of Magnaflow mufflers on an inline 6. It's totally subtle when just cruising around and get's rumbly when you roll into it and they have very modest impact on performance.

5. this car still has a catalytic converter! It will totally pass the sniffer in a smog test... It just won't pass the visual inspection...

6. the A/C REALLY sucks on those long drives to LA and/or Vegas...

This car was designed and intended to be one of the ultimate "streetable" sports cars. It will smack down a Lambo Gallardo on the highway up to about 140'ish when the aerodynamics of the Gallardo will start to overcome the power deficiencies.

It's totally quiet while cruising and when you get on it, all you hear is the beautiful sound of the turbo's spooling.

I agree, that car is a dream. RB26DETT that's gotta be insane to drive. If I lived anywhere near you, I'd be doing whatever it took to get a ride in that.

WOW great looking car!

Personally I wouldn't have ran the Porsche seats. They are not comfy to me, and are heavy as hell! But I guess it kinda adds a touch of luxury to have power seats. And the dont look too bad either.

i just love the unrestricted sound of the RB26 sounds so unlike any other engine the smooth inline six rumble with this nice note of something that almost suonds digitally created with a bit of super car in it

Now I know why you're always saying "RB26DETT!!!" in all the motor swap threads.

Actually, there are two reasons why I wouldn't recommend an RB26DETT swap. 1. It's just too freakin' complex. The RB25DET would take about half as much work to get it to fit "right". 2. I want as few people as possible to have an RB26DETT in their 240Z...

The brakes are custom hats mated to StopTech disks with Porsche 911 Turbo front brakes on both front and back wheels with custom fabricated caliper mounts. Actually, we've made some changes to fix some of the problems we had when building my setup and are going to package it so it'll fit under one piece 16" Panasports with StopTech calipers.

I'll let you know when the kit is ready for distribution. We have an exclusive deal with StopTech on the custom calipers. Expect the price to be around...

This will include hats that fit the Datsun standard 4 lug pattern, rotors, calipers, hoses and brackets for all four corners.

i have a few questions. the usual noob questions.

tell me about this engine. what was involved in the swap? new mounts and an ecu install? what is it out of?

how much did that project cost?

You'd most likely need custom mounts, an ECU/Wiring Harness, probably new mounts for the transmission as well. There are probably other modifications that need to be done as well.

you n00bs.... probably this probably that. lol, its no different than any other non nissan L6 swap. new motor mounts and tranny mounts or adapters to use the stock positions a custom mated driveshaft to match tranny out put shaft to rear diff. in this case a Z32 tranny was used so the bell housing either has an adapter plate on it to mate to the engine or a re-machined one. all EFI electronics from the original car will be needed and then just a few power wires and signal wires need to be spliced into the Z's body harness. usually pretty easy wiring steps OR a standalone is used no different than installing any other standalone in a Z. all custom radiator, IC, and all piping needed for proper fitment and cooling/volume. its not crazy hard guys Mckinney motorsports makes ALL these parts for the RB and SR motors to fit into an S30 body. you just need 3grand to buy there stuff and then do your wiring.

you CANNOT be serious.... yes from a skyline and obviously a GT-R since its the 2.6 and guessing by L-dubs rich *** its probably a neo motor or something from the R-34. no expense spared. o and i said +20k not 20K i left in a variance for options to increase the amount cause i figured you put alot more into it than that. i have a feeling into the body and seam welding and paint is probably half of it haha. the suspension and swap's done probably is the other half. GOD DAMN BODY WORK! so expensive haha.
