Right on man, sounds great! So in what order did you use the sandpaper grits?

LOL @ wild man ! well i started with 600 wet grit and took the piece of sandpapper and dipped it into a bowl of water and worked it all the way in and around the rim INCH by INCH by INCH 600,800,1000,1200,1500,2000 wet grit then i washed it all off let it dry and then put on a little bit of mothers polish on it rubed it in until it turned black as the directions say i let it sit there for about 10 min ( my hands and fingers were numb ! ) came back and rubed it off and its so shinny i can see my face in the rims !!! WOW !!!

p.s. i started with 600 grit to help remove any deep scratches / blemishes, i guess if your rims are perfect u guess u could start with 800 grit and work your way up !

p.s.s posting pictures tomorow no more sun light left.. =-(

Right on man, thanks dude! I will try that first on my 6-spoke wheels. And then my other wheels later. Hey administrators, you should make this a sticky. Great info, on polishing our wheels.

a couple more tips on polishing:

Always rinse the surface between grits. Otherwise when you switch to a higher grit, you'll still have some of the lower grit particles on the surface which defeats the purpose of the higher grit.

Start with the highest grit you need. You can determine this by the depth of any scratches on the surface. Just start with a high grit and see if it will take the scratches out. If not, then step down to a lower grit.

And finally, polish is NOT like wax. You dont have to leave it in place. It doesn't work that way. Its just a light abrasive. Leaving it in place to dry will only make the work harder. It wont affect the outcome. Its usually recommended you DONT let the polish dry.

big question on the polishing of the swazi's....i have swazi's myself, you just polished the outside of it right, because the spokes have a very thin and close grouped grooves that are curved in a circle contrast to the circular rim...dont know if all that made sense, but the question is, did you sand the spokes as well, and how???
