hard times, dropping the project
hard times, dropping the project
this sucks. I never thought it would come down to this but I gotta do it. I know I was never a popular poster on here, so forgive the rant. I've been out of work since early February. I've been in restaurant management for the last 5 1/2 years. I left my most recent post mostly because I was being treated like crap. The final straw was when they started playing with my paychecks. I had overtime that was converted into regular time, different amounts paid out for vacation hours, even tips pulled from my checks (I was a manager, I never took tips, it was against company policy). I had through in a ton of interviews before and after I left, so I figured I'd be OK. Things weren't moving quickly, so I applied for unemployment, which I was denied. I've since appealed the decision, and have a hearing scheduled next week. I have to prove that I was not terminated (I gave 3 weeks notice, have emails to support it), and that I quit with good cause. The good cause thing is weird because the law doesn't really state what it is. I have paystubs and other documents supporting my argument, so hopefully it goes OK. I've been interviewing like crazy in the meantime, but the market for a restaurant manager just isn't that great around here. I've tried getting into other lines of work and I keep hearing that my resume shows I'm overqualified for entry level spots. I'm pushing toward law enforcement as well (I have a test with the Department of Corrections next week), but it takes months to get in.
All the while I've been without income. I'm not trying to work the system, I am simply down to nothing. My savings have dried up. I have to sell off the old school 3 liter engine that I was having built at Rebello Racing. I put down half up front ($2,000 for a $4,000 job). I need to find someone who wants it and can pay it off. The block was finished back in April, but I couldn't pay off the remainder so that engine was sold to someone who had ordered the same engine. The block that they had started building for that other order became the block they would use for mine. The deposit check was cashed back in February and that's all I'm looking for. Basically $2,000 to me, and then $2,000 to Rebello when it's done. Finding someone for this seems like a stretch, but I have to try. My last step would be to sell the Z. I really don't wanna do that, but while I've been treading water, I know the bills will pile up soon. If anyone has any advice, etc, let me know.

Dayamn brah! I woulda thought a management background would make it easy to get another job. Have you tried the electronics areas of work? Cell phone stores, big box electronics stores, retail companies, warehouses, furniture stores... they all need management.
is it one of those 310 hp motors?? cause 4000 is cheap. too bad i dont have it lying around. the house and pending wedding are gonna kill me. i would help here, specially for that motor. ooooooh what i could do!!
