DVD's cost more than VHS...why is that?
I don't know, I just don't see a PC sounding very good unless it was setup for pro music recording with monitors and outboard amps and what not.....When I lived in Ga I had a Onkyo High current Amp/Receiver with a Sony SACD player running through a pair of Bose 10.2 Series II floor speakers and I was more than pleased with the sound quality, very natural and clear. I just prefer it that way when I listen to music...but then again I like my music alot.

my setup is kinda ghetto rigged, but it does the trick, and uses open source free software. the only thing that cost me money is the PC, which i had sitting around anyways, and a TV tuner card to go in it. as far as audio quality, there are very high end PC soundcards out there, and they have optical outs on them that can go to your high end reciever.
Well, I just got done watching the news and apparently LG has made a DVD player that may just catch on....it plays both Blue Ray and HD DVD. They say it has a blue laser and a red laser. Hmmm, I think we are about to see a new technological break-through come to pass here real soon for the consumer market. They were saying we didn't need another "Beta vs VHS" war so this is what they came up with. Nobody had anything negative to say about the new player and idea so I guess we will just have to see what happens now.
