decisions decisions.....

well when i sold my 240z back in 05, i had no money and no space to work on it, so i sold it to gavin (wreckedj30) at a bargain price of $200, well since then almost 4 years have passed, well now that i am finally about to get some money to buy a car i figured i might as well stay with the cars i know and love, well its down to my old 240z with the l28et or a vh powered z32, well here is what the 240 now looks like. (keep in mind there are ALOT of parts that come with this car)

heres the car when it came home from the junkyard..

needless to say, but i actually used to sit in this car and kinda pretend that i was cruising down the freeway with it, with the windows down, not a care in the world..

needs work but is not a bad start at all. honestly, id get the S30 over a swapped Z32.... especially when its your old one. whats the price he wants though? and whats left to be done other than the obvious body and interior work.

to help minimize rust that might develop while the car sits, this car had less the 70k miles on it, too, its a shame that it ended up in the junkyard.

if it was a TT Z32 i would say go for it, but swapping a Z32 really looses its novelty idk, i just dont think it is worth it in the long run.

240 is easier, cheaper and if you want something VH powered you can always add it in the future

Uh.. no brainer. Get the 240Z. An L28ET powered 240Z in good shape is going to be worth THOUSANDS more than a VH swapped Z32 and cost a TON less. Swapping a VG30DETT into a non-turbo Z32 is WAY more complicated than most people realize and that's for a motor in the same chassis it was designed for. Going to a VH is going to be an exercise in custom fabrication and if you don't have the skill to do it yourself or the ability to pay someone else to do it for you, you'll never finish it.

I think you should go for the 240z also. It looks to be in pretty nice shape. And it seems it mainly needs T.L.C. Then it will be a sweet tight ride. Good luck on whatever you decide man.

im not worried about resale value, but the VH is actually pretty easy to swap in, custom motor mounts, wiring and flex plate/torque converter and she would be ready to go, that and almost every v8 on the planet fits in better then the VG, lets face it, the VG is a BIG bitch. but i am gonna spend the same amount putting a VH in my z32 and getting it on the road, that i would be buying the 240, getting fenders, hood and to finish up the random bits and get it painted, the flip side is there is almost no work other then swapping out the motor and finish pulling the AC and heater out of the z32, also i think the z32 would be safer for daily driveability if it where to get in a wreck...

wreck? meh i say they are fairly compareable... sorta. and the S30 will be more reliable imho and much more maintainable and cost effecient with better potential and a higher resale with less money investment. and its YOUR OLD 240! all signs point to one...

yeah, i guess i could build up the weakness's of the s30 (aero wise) and not have to worry about it too much.
