Cool Check out THIS Piston!!

My boss gave me this as a paper weight...yeah right, this thing is huge!! It measures 3 1/2 inches tall (95mm), 5 inches in diameter (135mm!!)...hell, the wrist pin is 40mm!! This is from an aircraft he said but he can't recall which kind. Any Ideas Snw?

Now thats a pistion for ya. Damn thats crazy but I mean have you seen the size of the turbochargers on prop planes?!?!?!

looks like my friends piston he has.... cant remember what its from. his is diff color though. however im sure a bunch of aircraft pistons look alike pretty sure his was from a p-51 though. its a hellabig piston.

thats not that big, at school, theres one that i can hardly pick up...not really but that ***** from like a locamotive or some ****....its a beast, next time i think aboot it i'll take a pix. Its like 15" wide by 12" tall.....30 pounds or so....

that things not far off a Merlin piston size (engine in P-51) they are about 5 1/2" bore.

I wish my boss could remember what it came out of. He said he use to work on airplanes a long time ago and that he got it a long time ago. I would not mind having 6 of these in my L28E...but I am afraid they would be just a hair too big for the block

My boss still can't recall what plane it came from...but still, at 5" in diameter I bet it sounded cool.

I just checked the specs on the R-2800...5.8in bore...

Doesnt look much like a radial piston...hmmm

Update

My boss told me he is now pretty sure this piston came from a Pratt & Whitney Radial engine...somewhere in the 1300 range if that makes since to any of you aircraft people.
