Looking to sell 280zx parts

So I have this great Datsun 280zx that was bought in 1983. It's been running great, but when I got it tested last year for the smog test, it didn't pass. I don't have the money to work on it, and it would be a shame to put it in the junk yard, so I thought maybe someone out there needs the parts.

What did it fail on? Which test...did it not pass on? And I know if you unplug the #5 injector. You will burn cleaner. I did it with my '82 280zx last year...and passed with flying colors.

Hello again,

The car has been sitting in my garage for the past month pretty much forgotten. My girlfriend is starting to get on my case though (she has to park in the street right now) and has even started calling junkyards, all of which have kindly offered to tow it away for free.

Problem is, the car didn't pass the smog test (and I don't have the energy to play mechanic) which means I can't sell it in California without being liable. However, I have a hard time giving it away since it is in such fabulous condition and I know how rare some Z parts are to come by.
I'm looking to sell this car to either a junkyard or an individual (provided some type of documentation is filled out acknowledging the car is being sold for scrap/parts).

About the car:
Currently the battery is dead, it's sitting in my garage covered by 2 years of dust, and the backseat is filled with magazines (so I apologize for the bad pictures). While I've driven in this car 1000's of hours, I've only actually driven it maybe 3 times since my dad gave it to me 4 years ago (I use to have 2 parking spots).
I do have a fat folder of all the service this car has received over the years. Since my dad got it he upgraded the sound system 3 times, painted the body at least twice, replaced the seats with recarro's, installed at least 4 carphone's (hence all the antennae's you see), put a viper alarm on with an ignition kill switch, replaced the center console and other parts of the interior, replaced the piston's so the trunk would hold open (waste of money since it falls now), replaced the cloth part of the ceiling after some water damage, replaced parts of the engine (not an engine rebuild though), and I'm sure much much more. Bottom line: if you know a lot about Z's, you'll get really good vibes from this car as soon as you see it.

If any person, collector, part dealer wants a good condition Z than send me a private message. I'll contact you back right away.
I can take better pictures of the car and take pictures of the interior if this is a point of contention for anyone.

Victor

I looked at that link and did not see anything about being liable for selling a car in California that has problems. If you sell it, then it is no longer your problem.

Hey Bleach,

I know it sounds ridiculous, but here, in California, selling an unsmogged car is like playing a game of Russian roulette. Here is a much better link though if you want elaboration on why I'm liable for selling an unsmogged car.

Any other questions? Anyone know a southern California place I can sell it to?

Thanks,

Victor

Damn wish I had the money to buy it. Here in Idaho, in canyon county there is no emissions required.

Well, if you happen to find yourself in downtown LA next week, and you see a parked datsun with the key's in the ignition just sitting there - be my guest and take it.

If you wanna sell it outright, I'm interested. No smog to worry about here in Louisiana, lol.
