Fiberglass Parts

I was wondering what kind of attention I would get if I started making fiberglass parts for the 240Z and 280Z. I wanted to start making fiberglass fenders, hoods, etc. That type of stuff. Let me know what everyone thinks about this. I also want to try to sell these at a reasonable price. Thanks.

Miguel

I know a big z-race enthusiast here in OKC that would be thrilled at the idea of lighter fenders and such.

sounds like a good idea to me. especially if you sell it in a condition that doesn't require fairing (like many don't, i've seen some aweful wavy ones.). and i'd say the reason that most people get fiberglass fenders and such is for nice looking fender flares for wider wheels.

maybe a bre spoiler recreation. that would be the simplest and most stylish IMHO.

why? thats just more crap to go wrong. and isnt even how the bre work im pretty sure. the spoiler looks like it would be 3 piece but it all lifts with the hatch. dont make things more complicated than they have to be.

list of great fiberglass parts

hood

fenders

flares

front airdamn

bre type spoiler

maybe even a dash????

and if you ever get to serious metal work you should make a pre-fabed bolt in (assembly required) roll bar 4 point. haha. huge request but something to think about if you wanna get in deep.

and is all this stuff for a 280z/s30???

Yeah everything would be for the S30's. That list is already on our minds, plus I also want to do custom work. Example like fenders with Z3 vents in them, or any other type of duct. hood scoops, roof scoops, dash, center consoles, door panels, custom dashes even, fenders with flares built in them, but I don't know how that would work with the rear unless the buyer molds them, but flares for sure. I want it to be stock replacements and custom too. What you think of is what we'll make pretty much. Thats the idea so far. Keep you posted

I am looking foward to seeing your supply list when you begin production. I think scoops and side air vents would be cool , perhaps even some covers to replace t-tops. Living in Az sometimes the glass T-tops can really suck sorta feel like God has a magnifying glass and shining the sunlight directly on me like everyone has done with ants when they were kids. I think molding some parts to convert a 280 z to a convertable like a trunk lid and other parts would be cool. I have seen a picture of a 280 z converted with a convertable top and looked really great, and I thought, to bad the factory didn"t make some of those because the styling does make such a sweet convertable. If I can find the pictures I will post. Do you have a hopper gun or are you planning on making all hand laid fiberglass parts?
