Question Lower torque on the 2005 track and 35th anniversary models?!

hi, i'm new here. i saw that the infiniti G35 is getting boosted to 298 hp just like the 350Z. i noticed that the torque went down from 274 lb-ft to 260 lb-ft. i called the nissan place and asked if it was the same for the 350Z (which i was wishing that it wasn't). sure enough, they told me that the torque was also 260 lb-ft. i was just wondering, if the hp went up, why would the torque get lower? would this make the car slower at take off or all together in general? i was just baffled that the torque went down. naturally, i figured it would have gone up. if anybody knows anything about this, please let me know!

I think there are several differences on the engines. One thing is they have raised the redline on the 300hp to 7200rpm, actual displacement has not changed there by reducing tork.

"The 350Z 35th Anniversary is the most high-performance version of the 350Z yet offered, with a boost in power to 300 horsepower through the use of revised pistons, revised camshafts and electronic exhaust valve timing control. The high-horsepower engine will only be available with a 6-speed manual transmission."
