Question about TT

Hey, I am currently in the market to buy my first 90-96 body style 300zx. I was wondering, If i don't get the stock turbo model how much of a pain is to add turbos anyway. Also, slightly unrelated... What are differences besides the seats in the reg and 2+2?

You mean add turbos to an NA block? not very easily. Not even done really. People do NA to TT swaps where they swap a TT motor into an NA body, this is very time consuming and some say it's easier to buy a TT. I recommend just buying a TT. As far as the 2+2's, it basically has a back seat that's only good for small children or storage.

As Emo said, it's not just a matter of adding turbo's. It's much easier to do the swap with a TT motor. The reason you can't just "add turbos" is because there are so many differences between the Turbo motor and the N/A. Here's just a few of the items that are diferent between the NA and the TT.....compression, exhaust (cat-forward), ECU, fuel injectors, and much more. I've never heard of someone converting an N/A block to a TT. It is more cost-effective to do the engine swap. It is far more cost-effective to just buy the Z32TT. If you possess extensive automotive knowledge and have connections within auto-shops, then the swap could be more cost-effective. It's easier to just buy the TT.

I know I guy who took the VG30DE apart, and completely rebuilt it with TT components. I helped a bit, and I cant say it was at all easy. HARD AS HELL actually. If you are interested in swapping to TT, let me know, we can get you the 5speed TT clip for 3grand, imported straight from Jaaaapan. If your a kid, dont get a TT, for one. Insurance will rape, and murder you within the first year. And what kid needs 300hp?!?! Not me for one, and I dont think any other kid does. Go with a nice 1991 2+2 5spd, cheap insurance (well... Not CHEAP, but cheaper) and still has ample power, 222hp.

He said "needs", not wants. A kid doesn't need that much horsepower. I agree with NISMO on that one. I'm sure he wants that much horsepower. He just smart enough to know he doesn't need it, or the insurance premiums and the speeding tickets that go with it.

My point exactly 91zxtt, thanks for making it . The stock 222hp will suffice for now, small mods will be done (i.e intake system, TTZD MAF) so the HP wont be all that higher... A few increase.

Im saving my HUGE HP for my imported JDM car... Which ever it may be. I have a choice of a few cars, if this next sale comes through (the Nür Skyline)The list goes something like this:

-1993 GTS-25T ECR-33 Skyline White
-1989 GTR R32 Skyline Black(Up there on my list)
-1991 TT 300ZedX 2+2 T-Tops Red
-1993 TT 300ZedXSlicktop Black ************ (Its already imported, Ill post pics if anyone wants, its waiting for this sale to go through... God it has all of the rarities of Z's rolled into ONE... TT... Slicktop... RHD (Right Hand Drive)... And JDM... Dude it will be something wont it?)

I've never liked the side-marker lights on these cars. Just an opinion.

Kinda have to say I agree with you 100% there man. I guess some USDM panel's, or bondo and paint should fix that right?

(Rather just swap on some new panel's, its always best to leave the body generally untouched with rare car's such as these... For those of you who dont know, there have only been 4 Fairlady Z's imported into the US ever since 1996... Only one of them being Slicktop, so my car will be one of the rarest Z's in America. Not too bad for a kid huh? )
