well, how bad do you want a slicktop?
Considering you have so much done to your current Z, do you really want to spend all that money again? Plus since he just got his, you'll be looking to do that 120k maintenance again, more money to pour into that car. Seems to me that your friend is getting the better deal. Sure a slicktop is nice but is it worth getting taking advantage of to just stand out?

See if he'll let you swap out some of the mods you've made. And also see if he'll do a tune up and what not to be sure that you're getting an evenly matched car.

I second that. Its not worth it for a straight trade in my eyes. You should see if he will get the car tuned and then put some of your mods on the new car before you trade.

think about what you want, do you want back seats, ttops, 120 done, do you really want to remove everything and switch it. and from my knowledge and from this forum, id say the slicktop is the rarest of the bunch but not that rare overall. one good thing is you dont have to worry about leaky ttops. its all what you want just think about that, i wouldnt get something just because it was a little harder to get than others, only get it if you really want it, otherwise you might regret it. hope i could help and deffinately not trying to push you in any directions, just helping weigh the options.

Keep your car. If you wanted to trade you would have done so. Slicktops are not that rare.

only about 2500 slicks made. i've only seen 2 besides mine. paid $9500 for mine, but its a '95 and had 80k on it, in immaculate condition. i know i could have found a TT for that price, but i wasnt looking for a TT, just a really clean NA. the slicktop is just a bonus, i dont miss the T Tops at all.

Are you talking about keeping your car AND paying $1500 for the slicktop as well?

If so:
I say if you've got the money then go for it. Then you can swap your engine and trans along with all your other goodies over to the slick top and be one of the few.

I personally don't like slicktops. There is nothing special about them except teh fact that they are rare. I LOVE my T-tops! I've never been in a slicktop but I'm sure it wouldn't feel any different than sitting in a normal car. If anything, the slicktop takes away your freedom of removing the roof. In my eyes it is a downgrade.

I just prefer the look of a slick top to the t-tops. Its more sleak. And thats not to mention the weight savings and rigidty that come with a solid roof.

slicktop is best! looks sleeker, is lighter, more rigid, very slightly more aerodynamic, and if you live in a place that rains a lot (western WA) you dont have to worry about leaks. maybe if i still lived in socal i would miss T-Tops, but after having the Ts up here on the z31, i realised that it wasnt really all that great.

i personally like t-tops so much i cut my roof on my 240sx, well its not t-tops but its a removable roof, big pain in the *** but it works so far. doesnt leak but i need someone to make me a custom headliner. i know i know what your thinking but theres plenty of support with the roll cage and such. its the same set up as a honda del sol. i used the brackets and everything from a z31, dont worry it was at the junkyard.
