Rough Idle question

My car has been idleing anywhere from 1500-2000rpm's. If I drive the car hard for a while it will sometimes then drop to around 800rpm's. But if I drive normal it will stay around 1500 and sometimes jump around to 2000. Also sometimes before I start driving it will be normal then when I stop at a light it will jump up to 1500. So I read around the forum and tried adjusting the idle adjust screw, but the idle didn't change. Could this be because I adjusted it without disconnecting the unit, and the car was running. Thanks for the help guys.

you need to disconnect the aac when you adjust the idle screw, but it will more than likely not solve anything if there is something else wrong...ie bad aac, iaacv, aru, vaccum leak, etc...
have you gone through the curing erratic idle pages?

you could also try seafoam. it works well

Thanks

Thanks for the help guys and thanks b300z for posting those links they were very helpful. If I adjust the idle and I set it to low or to high can that effect anything else i.e. loss of power or create another problem

You also might check out http://www.boostpro.net/prodz32tester.html - that tool may help you find vacuum leaks...
