really weird clutch problem
i got a 300zx a few nights ago went home car ran fine, the next morning i got in the car and it goes into gear with out pushing the clutch in and the car will not move. then it does not stall when clutch is up. and it idles normally. i put fluid in the clutch master cylinder but that didnt do anything could i need a new clutch or a new slave cylinder? can somebody help me with this please??

because it's fairly cheap for the whole clutch kit (pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch disc, alignment tool), I'd recommend that you replace them all, that way you don't have to worry about the other parts falling apart.

Once you put any horsepower to the car, stock (oem type) clutch is just plain gone, not to mention if you drive it hard. Clutch will last you a long time if you can drive, rev match, don't ride it, and yada yada yada, but sooner or later it will give out. It's like tires, it wears out... I am yet to see a clutch that is imortal

sounds like for some reason the clutch plate is not engaging the flywheel, if it did, the car would not go into gear without the pedal depressed (without some nasty noises and smells and tranny bits grinding themselves to hell), and most certainly would not rev to 7000rpm in gear standing still. that would also cause the driveshaft not to move. this would not be a hydraulic problem. everything will still look like it is working properly because it is. the problem has nothing to do with the slave cylinder, master cylinder, wires or anything else like that. get a clutch kit and put it in and i bet your problem will be solved.

You could've broken the pivot which would allow the engagement mechanism to move, but not actually engage the clutch. It's an inexpensive part, but the labor to replace it won't be. The only way you can tell for sure would be to drop the tranny.

I had a clutch that was slipping, and I went to pass someone and threw on some throttle, and then my clutch died. I ended up finding out that I actually ripped off all of the clutch face, and there was NO clutch left.
