because it's fairly cheap for the whole clutch kit (pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch disc, alignment tool), I'd recommend that you replace them all, that way you don't have to worry about the other parts falling apart.

do you feel the clutch engage, or is the shifter just moving?

a Z's clutch is practically imortal. well mine was atleast so I wonder how the hell your's went out. I pushed my Z tot he limit most of the time I had home made slicks. andmy clutch was fine. U might consider a flywheel as well while ure at it.

Once you put any horsepower to the car, stock (oem type) clutch is just plain gone, not to mention if you drive it hard. Clutch will last you a long time if you can drive, rev match, don't ride it, and yada yada yada, but sooner or later it will give out. It's like tires, it wears out... I am yet to see a clutch that is imortal

the shifter is just moving. the clutch doesnt do anything. I jacked the car up too day and when i push the clutch in the wire moves properly and everything but i can just put it into any gear with out pushing the clutch in. and i have pressure in the clutch. but when it is in gear i can rev it to 7000 rpms and the car does not move. i took the shifter apart and i watched the driveshaft and i tryed to move. when i rev it and its in gear or not in gear the driveshaft does not move at all.

sounds like for some reason the clutch plate is not engaging the flywheel, if it did, the car would not go into gear without the pedal depressed (without some nasty noises and smells and tranny bits grinding themselves to hell), and most certainly would not rev to 7000rpm in gear standing still. that would also cause the driveshaft not to move. this would not be a hydraulic problem. everything will still look like it is working properly because it is. the problem has nothing to do with the slave cylinder, master cylinder, wires or anything else like that. get a clutch kit and put it in and i bet your problem will be solved.

I think you're on to something with that. A clutch wouldn't work fine one day and not work at all the next, unless you beat it to hell. If you did, then shame on you for not telling us.

You could've broken the pivot which would allow the engagement mechanism to move, but not actually engage the clutch. It's an inexpensive part, but the labor to replace it won't be. The only way you can tell for sure would be to drop the tranny.

I had a clutch that was slipping, and I went to pass someone and threw on some throttle, and then my clutch died. I ended up finding out that I actually ripped off all of the clutch face, and there was NO clutch left.

ha ha ha ha man Ima in a laughing spree today. lol I did that to my sister's civic. it was pretty funny, Hondas can't handle burn outs. it was not even good and the clutch died. I remember doing endless drifts on my Z and the clutch never went out. Z's clutches are untouchable for a stock HP range ha ha . dont U guy's agree? u can beat the **** out of a Z32 clutch and still get it to the house to replace it. unlike cheap old Hondas. POS ha ha ha ha Honda good Joke whahahaha Civic what a clown he he Si whahahahaha good stufff. my $.02

A pivot ball. It's what the clutch fork sits in.
