jsut this evenning i got in my Z to go to work and noticed that every time i step on the brake a red light comes on in the odometer... its a red light that kinda looks like the high beam light and it is on the far left top corner. i checked my brake lights and they are working fine... i find it odd that it only comes on when i push the brake pedal... anyone know what that light corresponds to???? thanks

 

from what i have heard it is just a brake light, like i guess it is just to let you know if you are riding your brakes i guess..maybe some people accedently push the brakes when they dont mean too..it isn't anything weird (well it is kinda)or messed up with your car, cuz i know mine does it and every other z i have seen around here has it so it would be very strange for everyone to have the same problem..i actually like it..it kinda freaks out my friends when they ride with me haha :burnout: i know that probablt wasn't very much help because i dont know for sure but i just wanted to pitch in my two cents

 

well thanks for the input.... but i just dont get it... ive never had this before.... was the sensor not working and now suddenly it started working... i mean why would the light just now start to light up.... maybe i should add that i just recently changed my brake booster and master cylinder... but then again .. its been about a week since i did that and now the light starts to come on?... just feeling uneasy about it ... any other thoughts on this?

 

Maybe the brake booster install etc has loosened the electrical plug going into the master cylinder base...

 

jsut thought i would update anyone that read this...... i actually figured out what it was ... !! :-) very simple actually. turns out that the light is simply alerting the driver that one or more of your tail lights / brake lights is out.

here is the trick, i checked the rear of the car for lights that were out and found nothing ... but when i looked closer.. the third brake light is actually 4 seperate bulbs and so it looks fine from up close but if you stand back you notice that only 3 of the 4 are turnning on ! ... bam ! problem solved....

anyways.. just thought i would update anyone that cared.
