No Fuel Pressure At Pump

Hi, I currently have a 1990 N/A Z32. When I first got the we diagnosed one part of its fuel problem which was a bad fuel pump (didn't run at all). I bought a new one an installed it. When the engine cranks you can hear the pump running but there is no fuel at all. I checked to see if it even went to the fuel filter, which it didnt, and traced it all the way back to the metal fuel sending outlet. Even at this point no fuel is coming out. Any ideas about what could be wrong?

Edit: I took out the fuel pump and connected it straight to the battery with a wire. And the fuel pump began pumping fuel. After that I tried to put the pump back in the car and hook it all up, but now the fuel pump again doesn't pump fuel but turns on. Could this be something wrong with the control unit for the fuel pump or something else?
