Low idle problems
Low idle problems
Help! I just bought my first z32tt yesterday. Drove to New jersy to buy and drove it back 4hr drive. I the car is heavily modified, i started having problems when we got back home.. The car idles a little under 1rpms and stalls out quit often. My cousin owns a 97tt supra and knows quite a bit about turbo cars. He popped the hood and found a vacum hose that was leaking he pinced the hose and the car was iding fine, so he used a zip tie just for a day or 2 till he gets me a plug. Fixed the problem then later that day i took it to have the emmisions done and failed dont no why? I drove it home and it just idles so bad when it wants and puttered a little when i was giving it gas. I need some help guys. If anyone can help of have any suggestions i would apperecaite it. But i will say this, the 300zx tt is one hell of a car and im hooked. Alot of my friends own mustangs and was gonna get one but nothing beats a turbo import. I just feel like a million bucks driving this car.

I'm guessing your smog problems come from your vacuum leak. It'll cause your car to run rich a lot of times since the MAF is reading for more air than what is actually going in there and giving it the wrong fuel mix. Fix your boost leak. You probably have more as well, not just one.
i also have an idle problem, my ride is a 93 NA and it idles i alittle under 1000 but then it kinda drops a little the goes up a little, you ca bearly notice it on the tach, but the car starts to shake a little bit,....but the weird thing is that when i turn on my AC..it idles just fine...i have n vacum leaks what so ever and now i dont know what the heck it is...any words from any of you guys??
First thing, you guys should check all your plugs (not spark plugs, but connectors).. One day my car was ideling bad, REAL bad, turns out I had forgot to plug a few plugs back in in the back of the engine bay when i was working on it the night before... Check plugs, simple stuff you can visually see, then go for the TPS and other stuff...
Have simuliar problem with NA

I assume that the TPS is the throttle Position Sensor and that its located on the driver side intake manifold at the butterfly. I don't know what the AIC is though.
Little help - Pls!
Amb Temp Sensor?
Can anyone tell me if the amb. temperature sensor is tied into the ECU and effects the TPS?
When I installed the new front body kit, I did not install the amb. temp. sensor. I really didn't know what it was. I noticed that the amb. temp reading on the climate control was -124. I thought that it had to do with a sensor inside the vehicle. I just remembered that I did not install that sensor, so I just hooked it back up and the amb. temp. inside the vehicle read correctly, so I was wondering if this could have something to do with my low idle issues as well. I still need to find a new mounting location for it and install it. I do that tonight after work.
Thanks!

I missed that line originally....
Common sense should tell you that the vacuum hose goes to something. It probably wasn't just a random hose that Nissan decided didn't need to go to anything. Fix it right....don't half *** it.
Post a picture of the hose and where it is in the engine compartment.
Since your bro owns a '97 Supra TT doesn't mean that he knows jack about these cars.

The IAA is what I meant which is the Idle air adjustment.
