Lets talk Driveshaft Replacement
Have to replace it. I got underneat the car today, and it broke off at the end. Where the silver cylinder piece slides into the tranny. OK..... I assume I hve to take the exhaust off the car right? Whats the best way to go about doing this?

It's actually real easy. You remove the 6 bolts at the front of the differential. Remove the bolts that hhold the center support. The whole thting should fall out after that. To install the 1 piece, slide the spline into the back of the tranny, then tighten up the bolts at the diff. The 1-piece units only have 4 bolts instead of the stock 6.

I got under my car last night to see what needed to be done since I am putting my new one piece driveshaft on saturday. On the factory driveshaft, does the middle u-joint flex? Like can you move the rear section of the shaft up and down, side to side, without moving the front portion? Also, Is it absolutly 100% necessary to remove the exhaust. In looking at it, if I just remove the exhaust hangers, let the exhaust sag a couple of inches, I could just unbolt the old one and slide it out(that is all determined if the middle part flexes). Putting the new one in might be tricky though.

Take caution when removing the stock driveshaft in the manner you explain CaptainZ. The stock driveshaft is quite heavy compared to the one piece. It's possible it could damage your exhaust or you if you aren't careful.

J/k. Thanks for the heads up. As far as the exhaust goes, I dont care. I am going to replace it anyways. As for me. I am undamageable. Well okay, I weigh like 155 so I am very damageable, but I am having my mechanic bro in law help me, and he is very strong, so I wouldnt anticipate any problems. I plan on probably just droping the exhaust anyway as I am concearned on how I would get the one piece back in since the middle doesnt flex. "Ounce of prevention saves a pound of grief".

Actually, I hadn't thought about that, so I probably would've wound up with that bump.

I should know cuz that's what happened to me. When I was changing out my clutch, removal of the driveshaft was necessary. So guess what? It hit me in the head. It hurt but I didn't break anything. So learn from my mistakes! Don't get hit in the head by your driveshaft!
