You're hitting safety boost. Safety boost will not let your car boost past 7 psi. At 14 psi...I hope you have an aftermarket ecu. The reason that you may be going in and out of safety boost may be that you're detonating. It sounds like pebbles in a coffee can. If that is so, You need to lower the boost immediately as you could do some serious damage to your motor. Here's a whole tech on why you could be going into safety boost:

Also do an ECU diagnostics and see if you get any codes to come up. Good luck.

It means the detonation sensor. If you look at the throttle cabble cover and go directly back about 2 inches or so, that's the connector to the detontaion sensor. The actual detonation sensor is quite a way bit down there...It takes A LOT of work to get to that.

You'll want to put that in as soon as possible. I doubt it's causing you're boost problem right now, but you'll have other problems if you don't get that done. Have you investigated that saety boost problem yet? Does the detonation description match what you're exeriencing? Does it go away after you shut off the car or take it easy for a little?

Cool, a lot of times that connector can be a problem...I'm glad it was the connector and not the sensor itself.

The knock sensor is a bitch to replace. Cross your finger that fixes it. You definitely want to get that O2 sensor installed. That could be part of your problem also.

It's more logical to just relocate your knock sensor than to replace it due to the fact that it costs quite a bit to do so. But it nearly takes an engine pull to get to the stupid thing.

I have to disagree with you EMO , but relocating the knock does not work properly. The knock sensor is basically just a microphone. The further you put away from what it's listening for, the less effective it will be. Plus, it picks up other sounds when you do this and may mistake it for pinging. If it is the knock sensor, just bite the bullet and fix it right.

Good I'm glad that it's fixed. And yes, forced induction is a beautiful thing. As far as relocating the knock sensor goes, it's arguable. Some say that it does what you say it will, other's say that it gives you some knock sensor protection...just not as much as the stock location, but it's worth it since you avoid a plenum pull. It's all a matter of opinion.
