the boost not going above .82 bar

Hi Guys,
I got a Z32 (VG30TT) and have a big problem getting the boost to go to 1 bar.

What I have dove
Apexi AVCR set to 1 bar
Cleaned the waste gates (did not find any carbon build up in it at the time of cleaning)
Octane booster on the fuel
After market Fuel pump & Regulator
The rest is; as it came out of the factory

Observations
The boost dose not goes above .82 bar
On 4th gear it goes up to .9 bar

What do I need to get it to 1 bar or more…. Help is much appreciated….

.................................................. .................................................. ..........................................

I have increased the fuel via Apexi SAFC (if your concern is running high boost & running lean). And yea I take your point about the ECU…. I don’t mine looking at an after market ECU….. however…. My budget is at the low end… can you guys help me with what I kinda ECU I need to get (whats on your mind) …. I am not looking for super performance as at now but just respect on the streets....
by the way guys thanks for your help....

Stupid question but do you have your boost soleniods disconnected? Do you have boost jets installed somewhere?? Did you set your Duty cycle on the AVC-R to a higher number? Sometimes the boost level will be set but if the duty cycle is not up to par it will not acheive that level.

you may have some pin hole boost leaks.

Stock ECU = no boost. go get your ECU tuned for the Boost controler. I gurantee you;re going to detonate, Ping, and backfire like no tomarrow. go get the ECU tuned and remove the boost jets. (follow the write up on 3ZC.com)

The ECU could be part of it. I'd say it's also your stock intake and exhaust being too restrictive to support higher boost levels (if you can't get the air into and out of the engine fast enough, there's only so much boost you can run).

(js9krcr01040 - with a boost controller installed, it'd be very difficult [though not impossible] for him to have left the stock solenoids in... if it were installed properly according to the installation guide or any writeup I've seen, the solenoids were removed or at least bypassed)

Bottom line, turn your boost controller down to .62 bar (9 psi) until you get an ECU upgrade, cat-back (at least), and JWT Pop Charger. If it still underboosts, come back and we'll tell you how to fix it. Until then, any advice we give on how to increase the boost is going to risk destroying a 300ZX, and I'm not willing to do that.

lol... if it isn't blown already due to overboost and causing his low boost problem...

yup...ditto on the smart guys^^ but my buddy had this problem with his talon (which is built good...until it hit a wall) and his Mass air flow meeter was **** and not letting it boost up there, or even some lines could be weak and colapsing under the pressure and causing it not to boost right, internal wastegate i assume? if not could be bad wastegate gasket. or yea a tiny boost leak in the lines or intercooler.

ashspec or jwt. Blowing your motor while racing a civic isn't gonna get you street cred. IF you have a low budget, what you need to do is wait. Work and save up. Then mod properly. It's a lot more expensive to replace a car or motor than it is to buy the right mods in the right order.

Ash or ZTuner if you're on a budget. (ZTuner.com or the previously mentioned link) JWT if you want the safest.

Air/Fuel ratios aren't the only thing an aftermarket ECU changes... there are other critical alterations as well.

Really, though, you need an intake and exhaust to make use of any real power and increased boost... the stock stuff is extremely restrictive. You'll see 30-40bhp gains with a JWT Pop Charger and HKS Hi-Power exhaust (or Specialty Z's exhaust if you don't like the looks of Hi-Power).

If you do all that stuff and have trouble boosting, let us know and we'll help further... but like I said, getting a nearly stock 300ZX to boost that much isn't going to be very effective, the intake alone is probably choking your turbos at those compressor speeds, resulting in lower-than-ideal boost pressures.
