Injector Questions

Alright, did the plenum removal. had to go out and by an impact driver to remove these stubborn screws on the injector caps. removed the fuel rail only to found out that the injectors are bitches to get out. i tapped them out and broke the plastic ends (see pic)

? #1 - Since I broke the plastic ends, are they important ?
? #2 - According to the pics are the injectors bad and need replacing ?
? #3 - Is there a tool to properly remove the injectors ?

My wonderful pictures ~>

which platic ends did you break?
you can't tell if the injectors r bad just by looking at them.
Checking their resistance and comparing to spec will tell you if they're bad.
also if you listen to them while the car is running will tell you if they're opening and closing.

the plastic covers IMO are to aid in the fuel dispurment but i dont see that it would affect performance too much especially since u have an N/A but i have no technical excerpts to support this.

I believe those plastic covers were put there for a reason. I'd look for some new injectors. I believe Z1 sells remanufactured injectors. That's where I'd go.

No, there isn't a specific tool to remove the injectors. It's recommended that you soak them in blaster spray over night to make it easier to remove them, but it's a little late now.

And like Rizz said, you can't tell if they're bad from the pics. Get your ohm meter. They should read around 12 ohms.

got ya covered brother...have my NA motor sittin around, was gonna tear it apart and sell what i can and trash the rest as soon as i get the car up and running, which will be tomorrow or wednesday...they (the NA stock injectors) have about 93k on them, make an offer, pay for shipping, and they're yours...i figure if parting out the old engine can get me a few tanks of gas so i can break her in, it's worth parting out lol...

i'll just send ya the whole fuel rail, no extra cost...just to make sure i dont mess 'em up when removing them...

by the way, sending you a PM with my cell number, get in touch with me or leave a voicemail, can't answer while at work, and we'll make arrangements...

look here to see what parts you'll need to replace.
primarily the insulators you broke.

The insulators on the Courtesy Parts page are not the same as what he broke. He broke the plastic end caps off of the injectors. Those aren't available separately.

It is highly recommended that replace all of the insulators and o-rings. The ones that you have are likely hard and brittle.

Yes, it's hard to replace with the engine in. If you didn't break anything removing the wires, then stick with what you have.
