I think ive been robbed..

Of backpressure.

I have a specialty z stillen exhaust system, NA 2+2. And I feel like it has robbed me of some serious power. Im still tearing *** but I miss that old loving feeling, smell me?

Anyway to compensate?

Well, I won't smell you
But you coulda just had a muffler shop bend you one together. It would sound fine, and cheap, but wouldn't let the air out as much as a mandrel Stillen piece...
You could put it(stock) back on
Otherwise, once you're modified, there's really no fix...

specialty z != stillen

and theres something else wrong. upgrading your catback is not going to cause a loss in power

Placebo effect in reverse. It just sounds less powerful and your brain is telling you things that really aren't so...

Say, when you upgrade a whole exhaust system do you have to replace the Cats? or can you just have the 3 or 4 inch pipe go from the engine to the mufflers? I am shopping for a stainless steel system now for my N/A 2+2 but am concerned about emissions. Anyone have experience in this in the Washington area? Thanks!

I have had a new exhaust put in with no cat (if the particular muffler shop will even do that for you, they face legal issues) and as long as the tailpipe still sniffs clean you'll get away with it. They don't look under your car in Washington. But technically, its illegal. But I did still pass emissions

you can always try High Flow cats, like the ones from Random Tech. We only get tested every 2 years. you could have flanges welded and you could run straight pipes most of the time, and once every 2 years, pull them and bolt in the cats just for the test.

Bleach, Where did you go to have your exhaust installed/made? was it here in Washington?, any place you'd like to recommend? I've been told I could same hundreds by going to a local shop and having them make one for me. If I can't find a place I would order them online like from Coz and install it myself, I've installed my Z1-one-piece driveshaft on my Z, a whole exhaust system couldn't be difficult to do, I would remove at least 20 lbs just by throwing away just the stock heat shields. I need to get my emissions done by next month, I'll wait and change my exhaust after the emissions, hehe. Then I'll cross my fingers when I have to go again next year and see if she'll pass. Thanks to all!

Sunnydale Muffler in Burien is where I used to go. I heard the shop moved.
Not sure if the owner is the same. He owned the place and did all the work himself. One-man show back in the late 90's.

Keep an eye out as you drive around for a 'non-chain' type of muffler shop. Privately owned. Just stop in and ask if they can set your exhaust up a certain way, and while you're asking for a price be sure to mention you're paying in cash. (no receipt)

I tried to have the whole upgrade cats thing done at a shop but they told me they couldnt legally do that.

I knew there was something shady about stillen, but I didnt actually know they did the sebring set up. I got that set up becuase I have heard a lot of good things about it and it looks really great, please note Im more about the performance then the look. Dont get me confused with those douche bag fart canners.

We only get tested in jersey every two years as well. I have to go this month so I might run straight pipes, in which case I might just upgrade/replace the rest of the exhaust system since half of it is already new. Smell me?

As far as the placebo thing, I think it has something to do with the traction im getting from my tires. The main reason I feel like I lost power is becuase I cant spin tires like i used to, unless its raining. But I noticed the tires I have are incredibly sticky on regular dry days and horrible on days where there even the slightest bit of moisture on the ground. Again, Smell me?

How are the Random Tech cats?? Anyone know?

And how are the specialty z straight pipes, is there anything special about them or are they just a set of stainless steel pipes.

Thanks for the input, and I hate you all...

SMELL IT!

theres nothing shady about stillen other than their prices. again...they dont use sebring. only specialty z uses sebring mufflers.

straight pipes are just straight pipes. SZs exhausts are top quality. if you dont want to spend that much, z1s are much cheaper and should be just as good of quality.
