i think its elctrical

I used to have this problem where my cylinder (i think number 1?) the front drivers side (closest to front of car) cylinder seems to almost stop firing. you disconnect the injector or coil plug and there is like a 100 rpm drop compared to like a 300 rpm drop on the others, plus it drives and accelerates rough and crappy. this just happened one day. to fix it i cleanes all the coil pack and injector connecters and that fixed it until 2 days ago. it just crapped out on me again. cleaned it and it worked for 1st gear and then crapped again. cleaned it real good and it worked the next day. but when the engine reached operating temp it crapped out on me again. let it cool it worked for a bit then went again. so im like crap. and cleaned all the connectors really good, and it worked again until it reached operating temp and then only worked over 4500 RPMS. then once hot not at all. whats up with this any ideas?
im looking for possible solutions or even just what you think is wrong. i hate this it really makes me mad knowing the car runs **** poor, and on top of that i just put it up for sale on autotrader and everything and i cant have people come and see it running like this.

It's cylinder number 2, first of all.

It's probably an injector failure. Take the injector connectors off and test the resistance between the two leads with a multimeter. It should be 10-14 ohms. Considering you say it was only working once hot and also sometimes over 4500 rpms, I suspect your injector is going to read very low resistance.

This is because low resistance on an injector means it's dumping too much fuel. At a higher rpm, there is enough air to compensate for the extra fuel. When the engine is hot, the mixture ignites easier. And most of us know that the injectors can be intermittent when they're first on their way out (cleaning the electrical connections for the coil pack made no difference, the effects were likely just a coincidence related to turning the engine off and letting the injector sit for a while).

sorry about the cylinder number, thanks for the response, thats actually what i figured, but i was hopin it would be something easier so i asked. i almost was positive it wasnt the coil pack either but i cleaned it anyways it was right there so why not. well, im pretty pissed then if i gotta replace an injector just before selling. but i will check he resistance. by the way, no it only seems like its kicking in on and off when i floor it you feel it learch a few times before shifting time, so temp doesnt matter any more. man i really dont want to change an injector.

well, now you know the problem. Spend a little to get a lot or lose out on a few hundred extra when you sell it. Take your pick.

ok now im steamed, got my injector, put it in and no difference, so i thought mabye no spark, i took out the coil pack ran it and it grounded out to everything except out the end, it came out the sides right where it gets skinny, so i put silicon around the seams right there and it stopped from there but just came out the rubber skinny end right out the sides grounding to anything, so im getting spark i just wonder if its grounding out to my motor instead of threw the spark plug. i dotn know im frustrated and confused any suggestions? ideas? tips?
