Engine problems.. No oil pressure
I currently have an issue with my 96 300ZX non-TT.
When i start my car it idle's at .5K RPMs. It has no oil pressure and now there is a ding sound coming from the engine. I don't think it will drive. My best guess could be that it is the Oil Pump. it went bad for some reason. It has plenty of oil, and i'm getting no "Check Engine" light. I was reading in my Service Manual and it looks like to change the oil pump you have to drop the Transmission out a little bit. I had it towed to the nearest Nissan Dealer (thank god for my friends AAA) ha.. and being how it is sunday, i can't get it looked at. (CLosed) i was wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost, and if it could be anything else.. Thank You

Not cheap...
I hope your mechanic does a routine inspection; checking
all the minor stuff before concluding that its the oil pump...
A friend of mine replaced his fuel pump ($300+) because another buddy
of his made an uneducated diagnosis. He went to Pepboys and had the pump replaced. The truck still didn't start.
Four days later, they found the problem; it was a relay ($40).
So don't go throwing parts at the car without having it checked
by an Educated/experienced technician! (NOT YOU)

It's being checked out by a Nissan Dealer shop. They are going to run the diagnostics and what not, before they conclude, that was the estimate he gave me though. (if it so happens to be the oil pump) obviously he doesn't want it to be the oil pump either, cause that's a lot of work he has to do.
