Sorry, no donation here, but I'll give some advise. Buy a 1-piece steel driveshaft from Z1motorsports.

I just installed the aluminum 1-piece from Powertrain industries. It's about 1/3 the weight of the OEM. It looks pretty slick installed.

I also have a 1 pc. aluminum. It's a few more bucks, but sure is nice looking and lighter. Besides it's only money, RIGHT ??? Which ever unit that you chose, the 1 pic is a good choice.

I don't know. I'll let you know if it breaks. It looks pretty damn sturdy. It's about 3.5"-4" in diameter and I believe it's solid (not hollow). It would take a lot to snap a solid 4" piece of aluminum.

I'd almost guarantee that it's not solid. A 4" dia. X 3' solid aluminum bar is gonna weigh close to 45 pounds. The same size of 1/4" wall tube is gonna weigh 12 pounds. Not including the ends, how much do you think it weighs?

Cayoncarver you beat me to the response

I doubt that the aluminum drive line is solid. If it were a solid 3-1/2" diameter and somewhere around 48" long, it would weigh 44lbs. I don't think a stock 2 pc drive line weighs that much. It's proably closer to being something like sch-80 pipe. But not solid. When I tap on mine, it sounds hollow.

I have a heavy heavy foot. Me and the guys I roll with down here have the fastest cars around. So were always racing people, or eachother.

Steel is what Im going with from z1motorsports. And im betting if I get sitckers with it, my **** will fly.

haha even from where I'm at today in indianapolis, you're still up there.

Do they actually have horsepower ratings on the aftermarket driveshafts? I mean whether it's steel or aluminum the weak point isn't the tube that connects the u-joints together, it's the u-joints themselves that are the weak links. Besides, the ability of a cars tire to maintain traction goes away long long before you get near the torsional limits of a round tube. Meaning, I'd go with the aluminum and save some weight.
