Does anyone know?????

Hello, this might be a stupid question. I just finished swaping out my old motor with a jdm engine TT I have a 94 TT. Is the fan in front of the engine supposed to be moving always or should it go on only when it is hot. Are turbo models different from regular. Thanks

it shouldn't be on all the time. It turns on based off engine rpm and car speed. I'll look up the parameters for you and post it if I can find it.

at idle, it should be going however, if not, your fan clutch is most likely bad.

sorry, at the moment I can't find the specs for the TT fan clutch, but here's the specs for the NA

With the AC off, the fan comes on only over 221 degrees.

With AC on, the fan comes on when the car reaches 203 degrees and is travelling below 24mph, OR when the temperature reaches 221 degrees and is travelling over 24mph.

If I recall correctly, the TT's operating temp is 194 degrees, so it'll turn on when it's a little cooler than the NA. Also, there's a reason for the fan coming on when you start the car, it has to do with how the clutch functions, but I don't recall what it is. And I think it should be on at idle to draw air into the radiator (like emo236 said), but I'm not 100% positive of that. Either way, it should not always be on.

Are you talking about the clutch fan bolted to the water pump? Or the electric auxiliary fan in front of the rediator?

I'd imagine the one bolted to the water pump; the one in front of the radiator and condensor is purely for the air conditioning and will only come on with the air conditioning.

It's the big fan in front, the one in front of the radiator

that's a contradictory statement. The big fan in front is the main fan... the fan in front of the radiator is the auxillary fan. The main fan is, in fact, BEHIND the radiator.

Your auxillary fan is under your nose panel while your main fan is in the engine compartment. Again, I believe you mean the main fan.
