Need some help. I have one cylinder not firing. The coil pack was damaged I replaced it and the spark plug. The new coil pack over heated too. What is causing that??
Change out or check the PTU.. if that is not it, then the ECU Driver chip is bad.
Coils have 12v Bat on them all the time the Engine is running. BUT the Current does not actually flow through them till Milliseconds before the Spark is Requested. that is when the ECU triggers the PTU to hook the Coil pack to the Ground of the Car to charge.. then when the PTU releases the Electrical Flow ( at the Command of the ECU ) the Coil firs the Plug..
If the Coil stays permanently hooked to ground it can not fire the plug, and the coil pack will turn in to a Toaster.. and melt itself..
This looks like what you have..
Choices are..
1) Bad PTU
2) Bad ECU
3) Bad wiring that has grounded to the Car Chassis..
