Clutch gives

Hey fellas, I've had this problem for a while and it seems to be getting worse. At first it was difficult to start the car without putting a lot of pressure on the clutch pedal (I mean with all my might). Now, I sometimes find that it is even a tad difficult to switch gears, however most of the time it's fine and seems almost too smooth. What I find is that the clutch pedal, without putting nearly any pressure on it at all, will give for about an inch or more, and then pushing it down the rest of the way it behaves like it should with resistance.

I've found that recently I've had to give it more gas into first gear in order to avoid stalling. It actually sounds and feels like I'm holding down the clutch pedal the entire time I'm driving. This is really beginning to worry me.

Anyone have some tips? I'm just a novice and if it were something simple I'd go in myself and check it out, but I do not have the option to see a mechanic at this time.

sounds like to much free play. adjust it so you have only like a 1/4 inch.

If he's as much of a novice as he says, perhaps some info/pointers on how to adjust it would be useful. I've never adjusted mine so I don't want to just google it and post something that might be right.
