clutch problems

lately i have been noticing some problems when i shift a bit fast, and of in the last few days under normal shifting. it feels like its hesitating some when i pull out the clutch, longer when i shift faster.
ive done the 5th gear test, and the rpms go down.
what other tests can i do to check my clutch?
what else in the drivetrain could make this happen?
my petal is farther out than in the last car, but i havent had this problem until 2 weeks ago. there is a little more freeplay than what should be, i think about .5 in.

How's the fluid? It won't make much difference but you could try bleeding the clutch and running new fluid through it.

When it hesitates, do the the RPM's come up, then as the car accelerates, do the RPM's drop back down?

No, not really. It doesn't sound like it's clutch related though. Sounds like you having the makings of the dreaded mystery hesitation. Only about a million things that can cause that. Better grab your ohm meter....you're going to need it.

Have you guys started with the t/b and iacv cleaning process and then checking for vaccum leaks?

.... My luck. ok here it goes. I got back home from picking up my pay check. so I wanna shift into reverse and it's all of a suden don;t wanna get the gear. it let go of 1st butdid not wanna get reverse. so I double clutch. and still nothing. but now is hard to get into all gears. im mean hard. and now I got clutch free travel for like 2.5 inches. what to do??? it's like Free travel and then it gets the clutch and then it's hard to put it in gear. :burnout:

throttle bodies and idle air control valve. vaccum leaks = suckin'2 mch aire sumwhre...

On the clutch, 1st check the fluid level, then fill it up, then look for a leik, if not in the hose it's either the slave cylinder or the master cylinder.

CC and I seem to be agreeing on a lot of things. Do what he said and you'll probably find your problem.

On 300zxclub.com they have a print out for a test you can do with your A/T light. I think you need to replace your clutch, throwout bearing, etc... all of those little things (take it to a transmission shop and let them inspect it), hopefully your transmission is not screwed. Does it grind any?
