96 300ZX NA - O2 Sensor 2, bank 1
96 300ZX NA - O2 Sensor 2, bank 1
A diagnostic code (P0136) is telling me that Oxygen Sensor 2, Bank 1 is bad (or so it says, who knows, it all voodoo magic as far as I'm concerned
).
Does anyone know which one this would be? That is, if I'm looking at the engine standing in front of the car, which pipe/side would it be on (my left or right) and where (before or after the the cat)?
From my understanding, Bank 1 is the side that Cyl 1 is located on, but I don't know squat about motor internals (boy does that suck!).
Also, if you know where the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor is I need to yank and check it out to. That code keeps coming back so it must be somewhat valid.
thanks!

Also, I don't have an O2 socket. If it's further down the pipe after the cat I should be able to access it with a regular open wrench I'd hope. The Auto Zone ticket the guy printed out for me suggested it was ON or AFTER the cat (usually after I think), but didn't state what side of the exhaust pipe.
IF bank 1 is the side that has cylinder 1 (which I don't know that it is; I'm basing it off what you told me), then bank 1 would be the passenger side.
Cylinder order goes as follows (while looking from the front of the car).
Windshield
5 6
3 4
1 2
Front

From the Auto Zone code description printout, it says Bank 1 is identified with the side that Cyl 1 is on. So basing all this on the Auto Zone info is how big of a risk?
Cool, I'll look down the pipe on or after the cat and should find it pretty easy unless it is cramped and hidden by other stuff which is very likely being a sports car.
Holler at me if you know the exact position. thx!

yeah...we he prolly has manifolds...go from under the car...right where the exhaust bends up toward the engine..you should get see the O2's there and have access to them...and itf an O2 sensor is out your running in safe mode...so your car prolly isnt drive as fun as it could be...

OBDII cars (like his 96 Z) have two sets of O2 sensors (so on a car that has two O2 sensors to begin with, there are now 4). Two of them are on the precats (just like OBDI), and two are on or after the catalytic converters.
hey hey.....i said it could be an OBDII thing cause i noticed his was a 96...i never said it was wrong...well, i did but i corrected my self. the only info i gave him was where the O2 sensor would be (prior to mentioning which one) and which bank bank one would be...i also figured that there probably was because OBDII just plugs in for the emissions testing meaning there must be a sensor after the cats most likely another O2....is there anything really wrong with that? its not liek the one time where i said get the dual pop charger...that i was mistaken for and apologized...
