Emo- You need to find someone who knows what is going with the engine. Changing the timing is not only a labor intensive job, but it requires some solid mechanical knowledge. If you don't know of anyone that possesses that, then save yourself the headache and take it to someone. I unfortunately don't know anyone in your area who is competent enough to handle this task. Good luck.. May the force be with you.

Well, I know shops that could do it...Greg Dupree would be a great person to do it and I have a hook up with him through a member in my club (no one who was at the last meeting has done it). however, I really would like to learn how to do it if possible. I might just end up taking it to someone, but I'd rather not. At the same time, I don't feel comfortable doing it myself b/c I don't wanna mess it up!! I got an email from a cool guy that may be an option. I figured that there might be someone here that may be able to help and if they can, that'd be great.

Why not pay someone to do it... And observe, take notes if you please, I have a whole note book full of notes on procedures for the Z... Just learn that way, the safe way. Peace foo's :p
Once again...that's my second option...but it would be more beneficial to get my hands dirty.

I just completed the job. my dad and I did it. It was actually quite educational. It's not exactly hard, just time consuming. I still don't recommend doing it on your own. You need someone that understands exactly what is going on with the engine internally. If you don't, then you could screw up a lot of stuff. It took us the whole weekend, but we didn't start until after noon each day. We took our time taking it apart, but it went back together quite easily. It's just nerve racking to turn the key for the 1st time. We did the job right though. New water pump, thermostat, tensioner, idler pulleys, cam seals, main seal, VTC springs and o-rings. We also installed the underdrive pulley set. The larger radiator is really shoe-horned in there, but looke pretty cool. All in all, a success.

I just went and talked to a friend that's a mechanic and was the lead mechanic at zwhizz previously (he's done SOOO many 60K it's not even funny). WEll after talking to him, I think me and a friend who just did the timing belt and all that stuff on his car might tackle the job this summer. 91, how did you like your UD pulleys? did you feel a difference?
It's amazing how much smaller the crank pulley is compared to stock. No wonder it makes a difference. You'll notice a difference. You'll feel it about the same as when you installed the hi-flow intake. It seems to rev a bit quicker. Definitely more power. When drvining up hills, it doesn't slow down in places it use to. Worth the $.
Cool, I'm thinking i'll do it when I do my 60K.
If you're going to do it, just get the full set of pulleys. I went with the polished aluminum color. I'm not a big fan of brightening up an engine compartment with red, yellow or blue. Looks tacky. The polished aluminum looks clean.

I was thinking pink.:D
mine are pink too emo...great color :D
Yea...they're so pretty! haha...alright any new guy or guest logging on is gonna wonder after reading this. that's enough.
like you said i am comfortble with my sexuality....(straight for all you new ppl :)), but after they read trough any forum out here they'll figure out that sarcasm and good humor is all what is about+ helpful info about Z's, which is the best asset to this forum
Yea, I agree.
You guys are lucky you don't live in San Francisco. They take this stuff pretty serious out there. Fairies don't like sarcasm.

I figured we had more in common than just Z's.
Haha, my uncles gay guys, but hes the coolest Mother Foooocker I know! He taught me almost everything I know about design on the computer. I dont know if you guys heard of this, but did you hear about how P Diddy (hate his music, but whatever) came to some NYC School and visited. That was my uncles class room! He showed me pics and all, he said hes a nice fellow, even when the camera's were off. Anyways, Its fine to have Uncle Harold and Aunt Bruce as long as they dont affect your view on sexuality, hahah. Peace foo's :p
I have a gay uncle as well, and he's cool. He's way more liberal than I am, and I view myself as being a fairly liberal person. His 'friends' are nice, but I really don't want to know much more about that world. I didn't find out until I was 12, but once my parents told me, it all made sense. He was married before and everything. My uncle would never be involved with P Diddy. He's more into Barbara Streisand and Liza Manelli. Ugh.
well i know a couple of dudes too, i mean like i said i have nothing against them, they don't bother me, i am cool with them...see everytime you see two gay dudes just think there are 2 more girls for the rest of us :) hahahahaha....heck they can hook you up with some of their straight female friends ;)
