5sp transmission

As some of you know I just recently got my Z less than a week ago and today I have started to realize that there is a whine in the transmissions, not only that but the reverse is really hard to shift into... is this common, or if it isn't anyone have any pointers, thanks... chris

You should consider maybe checking/replacing the trans fluid/gear oil. If the syncros are going or for just peace of mind, use Redline Oil's Manual Transmission fluid MT-90. I think that's the number for it.

depends on how hot your car is running and what kind of traffic your driving in. typically it shuts off once you hit about 45 mph because the air outside the car cools the engine from that point on. if your doing in town, stop and go driving then yes the fan will run constantly because that makes your engine run hotter. hope that helps.

Metaltear,
I highly recommend the Redline tranny fluid as well. At about $10 a quart
most people shy away from it , but it does a great job .

Make sure your clutch is adjusted right ... check for fluid leaks around the slave and master slave. I would suggest bleeding both with fresh fluid.

I am not sure what fan you have on your car now . Is it a factory or aftermarket one ? Does it spin free by hand when the car is off . Don't
try spinning it when the engine is running
