But it is in fact the weirdos version that is the original version...the american version is a slant on that of the British.
The Aussi's and Canuck's remain part of the commonwealth (even though not under British rule), our english, government system, etc remains largely in tact.
The US in breaking away away from the commonwealth and because of their distain for the British at the time...looked at ways to become "different".
Zed...Zee, whatever. We understand each other. It's all good.
Alright guys, don't flame away at me too much. Show the love! (B & Fairlady, I mean love in a biblical sense so don't get any ideas)
I'm just a peace loving, liberal loving, tree hugging Canadian after all.

Yea good point Dan, but that’s pretty much what everyone in the US is all about...trying to find ways to be different than everyone else, but not too out there to seem weird. And if they are weird, give it a few years and they will then become the norm, and something else will be the new extreme.
I guess we're really just the country full of whackos and jacked up English, it just seems like its the rest of the world that is out of place cause we are just so horribly self indulgent and see ourselves as the center of the universe... Its kinda sickening if you think about the US’s power trip on the world, and our expectations of making every country conform to our belief system just cause our country’s population and development boomed so quickly over the past couple hundred years making so “advanced” so quickly.
EDIT: LOL, Love how I just contradicted my previous post...BTW, don't burn me on being some liberal hippy who is anti-patriotic. I'm a registered Rep. but more of a liberal republican w/ an actual brain to think with, so I have my opinions based on fact, not what I was told.

I read you're previous post as being in jest. I didn't read it as if you were putting anyone down.
I work for a US company and spend a lot of time in Texas. Very few Americans come off to me as self indulgent or as the centre of the Universe.

Maybe not show it, but ask em any US involved issue and ask em who they think the right side is...the majority of Americans sees the US's actions as correct every time, I prefer to look at both sides of every issue instead of just being another brainwashed idiot w/ ideals pushed into my head.
BTW, the Next Paragraph is a Politcal Opinion, and isn't anything to do w/ this entire thread, so really no reason to read it unless you just want to hear me rant on and on.

No offence to the liberals, but the extremist liberal community in America is responsible for a lot of the whack **** that goes on around here, them and the ACLU. Its thanks to these extremists that so many controversial issues are becoming normal and really f@#$ing up this country, today its wrong to ban same sex marriage, tomorrow its wrong to ban bestiality w/ animals, then the day after its wrong to ban psychotic ritualistic killings in the name of God....but then at the same time, its wrong to say “God”….etc.. and its not just same sex marriage, its about religion, race, language, actions, war, even what you can do and say in certain places...its thanks to liberals that what WAS once a unified and free nation is going to one day become a nation of regulations and rules on so many issues that we are going to classify and categorize every type of person there is, and it isn’t going to be about being a free nation with a unified goal, but a free nation to anyone who has an idea and wants to exploit it and have people believe its correct. Its going to make us lose sight of the whole reason we're even here. It’s normal though, I guess it’s the same through history…we spread here, f@#k things up, and it’ll only be until a larger group of people who oppose us is capable of doing anything about it…I’m sure one day the world will look at Democracy as the link to indescribable manipulation of a political system, and seek to ban it and for an even better system of government…but until then, I guess we’re just stuck with it, so ranting is all I can really do.

Agreed, even though I registed Rep. and voted Bush, I still don't think there is very much that is conservative about his "agenda", but I can at least say he has helped our economy much better then Kerry would have. Liberalism is a disease.
Edit: I'm still pretty young (21), but understand the issues, what caused them, how their being fought, and what has and is most likely to happen. I also am well informed of history in the last 30-50 years, I appreciate history enough to have an extensive knowledge of this country from the beginning, and I can easily see how life has changes so drastically and can get a good idea where it's headed.
