how fast will it run
#2
To many variables. check out web sites and talk to people who have done it. I am working on a 70' now and have the same desire. 400 hp with stock driveline will only decorate the pavement! A properly set up car should be so fast it will scare people to the point no one will get in the car with you. Just to keep myself in check, I'm doing the brakes first. 0-60 in 5 or 6 seconds is great fun but what about 140 mph to 0 ? A controled stop with stock brakes could take the length of 2 football fields!
Just do it!

Here's a calculator that's very accurate for theoretical 1/4 times. Of course, as others have noted, there are a lot of variables that will impact your actual times like tires, launch techniques, weather, wind, etc.
1/4 time calculator
Assuming 2600 pounds at 400 hp gives a time of 10.8 @125mph

That's a cool sight! The calculation is for 400 hp at the rear wheels. It will cost you a lot of money to accomplish this, thousands not hundreds! 200 hp at the rear wheels can be done a lot easier and will get you there in 13+ secs. 1.5 seconds faster can cost you 3-5 grand more. Since I don't have that kind of money, I'll settle for a pretty, eye catching, 13 second poon wagon! Good luck
