it's been up for almost 4 months lol. i've brought the price down by $1k, talked to about 50 people about it, met with one in person, and nobody has wanted to pay out more than $3500 for it. i may just end up getting a credit card and fixing it lol.

wow, 4 months. I have had a car for sale for close to a year now and dropped the price by nearly $4000. At this point I'm just gong to keep it if nobody will pay what I want for it.

Don't feel bad Kas, I don't think vintage sports cars are selling anywhere. All you have to do is go on ebay or craigslist, there have been Zs on there for months and months.....

yep.
the worst part is, when i first put it up, i was asking $4600 (optimistically). i got offers for $3800 and $4000 then. now i'm willing to take $3600 and i still can't sell it.

You missed the cash-for-clunkers and $4500. There's been a 90 slicktop for sale around me for $1k for almost a month. Still not sold. Another 93 slicky with 158k miles for $3700 unsold.

No Z enthusiast would ever consider trading a Z in on the cash for clunkers program unless there was seriously no hope left for the car.

actually vaguely considered cash for clunkers when i realized that nobody, even z enthusiasts, cared anything about the car. but it's not eligible. necesita < 18 mpg

but don't get me wrong. i do consider myself an enthusiast and i would hate to see a z of all cars get crushed. but the fact is that it's the least special of all the z32's, and nobody even really wants it. not only does nobody have money for it, but nobody wants it. it's not worth the work it needs really. that's when i decided to sell. when i realized that soon enough, i'd need to put even more than it was worth into it AGAIN. after the initial 5k too much.

Actually, there have been Z32's that were submitted to cash for clunkers... the mpg ratings they use for qualification aren't the same as the ones published by the manufacturers.

yeah they do seem to rate pretty low. my dad's jeep gets around 22 as well as the z and they rate it as 17.

well if i had cashed it, the blame, in my opinion, would not be on me, but on everyone else. i'm trying to do the right thing and get rid of it before it does get to the point that i can't take care of it anymore because i'm in college and spending 100% of my money on that. it's everyone else that won't pay a half way decent price for it.

what will i do? well i want a stylish sporty car with some luxuries thats good on gas and on the eyes and wallet. i have the 240Z getting welded up. yes yes.... im actually going through with saving that POS lol. and i'd really love a Z32 for a DD. but that just isn't practical for the most part. sooooooo.... im thinking maybe another 240sx. but i might get an S14. they are just such nice cars all around. and sitting in the S13 reminds of the Z32 so much. but who really knows. oh i dropped the bike a couple days ago... well more like flew off it.

Allright snw, glad to see you're saving the 240! Thats why I never hit you up for the dash....I didn't want to contribute to its demise lol.

What happened with the bike? I assume you weren't injured?

I'd trade in a 1984-85 Z31 no problem for $4500! But I also doubt they get bad enough gas milage.

The Clunkers also are only good on 1984(?) and newer. So basically no S30 or S130 is elligable.

Thank God!The idea of someone turning in a classic Z as a "clunker" is more than I can take. I think the gas mileage is probably too good anyway.

From the rules found here: http://www.cashforclunkersfacts.com/...lunkers-rules/
19. Your trade-in can not be more than 25 years old. Period.
But it also says before that:
7. You must be able to drive your trade-in to the dealer where you are buying the new car.
So most S30's and S130's are exempt anyway.

And we're also ignoring the fact that the program is over, so nobody can "take advantage" of it anymore anyway.

over for now. who knows when they'll toss more money out there

as for the bike, i was at school, just changing parking lots, hit sand like gravel, rear slid out then caught again which made the bike straighten up in a turn, so all i was able to to was grab clutch and brakes and try to lean it back in the turn, didn't work out, stuffed the front into a curb and end looped it.... the bad way. *** over front lol. i flew off, hit the windscreen in the process, my shoe went flying into some bushes, got the windscreen in my chest, a little road rash on one knee and a badly bruised left palm and a small puncture hole in my hip where ever that came from lol. the bike got the upper cracked and scrapped more, but it was already damaged from the PO so no loss, the left hand engine case cover cracked and dumped its oil. but it also was already damaged and i wanted to replace it and the peg on my left foot peg cracked off. since i was only changing parking lots i left the helmet strapped to my tail so the bike came down on that and cracked my new helmet. that is the thing im truly mad about... but i guess it saved the bike some lol.
