Valve Cover Gasket replacement..HELP!!

Hi friends,
I recently bought a 91 300zx N/A. Its in pretty good shape.. I headed to get an inspection done on it.. and found out that it has a small Valve cover leak.. That guy gave me an estimate of $500 for the replacement including parts... What do you all think is the right price.. He says it not a bad leak, but as the car is in good shape its better we replace it before it hurts the motor.. I need your suggestion.. I live in Tempe, Az. If anyone knows someone around here who can do this job for less.. I ll be glad to get it done..
Thanks,
Sidd

500 dollars...WTF...Man you can do this yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined...You are going to have to remove your upper intake manifold (which is probably where the shop is charging the 500 dollars for) Its a pretty simple replacement...If you dont have the know how or 500 damn dollars, I would see if someone on this forum lives close to you that can help you out, and you can pay them some money for helping you...That shop will make about a 470 dollar profit off of you (Valve cover gasket set is about 20-30 bucks) for something that you can do by yourself or with the help of a friend. My honest suggestion, is to try and take it on yourself, but if you dont want to, try and shop around and find better deals, that just seems a little steep to me, but thats how shops make there money by raping there customers wallets. They get parts at cost or even lower and charge you double sometimes triple for the parts.

Thanks a Tonn Mark!!! I am dumb mechanically... I will also look around and see if someone lives around me. I am also planning to change all the spark plugs and the fuel filter.... Wat are the other things that can be done while I am getting this thing done?

I used this to show me how to do it. But it also shows you a coolant bypass which will help out the next time you pull it off. will cut your time by more than half. If you still have questions email me and i will give you my # so I can walk you threw it
