Ok im getting sick of hearing how everyone doesnt like the fact that my Z32 is automatic and was wondering what it would take to do a full 5 or 6 speed swap on my VG30DETT. A guy i know called my Z32 "handicapped" because its automatic.

The only reason i bought the automatic was because it was in the best condition compared to other Z32s in my area and was the best price. As much as i myself despise having an automatic i love my car and its speed but i miss driving a manual. What do i need to get and do in order to do a manual transmission swap? Any other transmissions that swap right in besides a Z32 tranny?

People who say automatics are putting a "handicap" on a car are usually inexperienced and generally kind of stupid. While I do like manual transmissions, I would still take a built manual valve body trans with a direct drive over one, especially the old style z32 trans. (a direct drive replaces the torque convertor with a coupler operated by a clutch pedal)

I've been trying to find out more and more info on this "auto with manual valve body build" and can't seem to get a straight forward definition.
Can someone elaborate? In also thinking of going manual under peer pressure, but want to keep it auto.

DUDE if you like it auto, keep it auto! I don't, but that's why my car's manual. Your car is your car. And I might as well ask too since it's dug up: Hoov, what are these transmissions you've brought up? I remember you brought it up in at least one other thread, and I can't seem to come up with a simple explanation as to what they are. This gives me the impression that they aren't exactly regular automatic transmissions, and may not even be close to being a regular auto transmission, just that they're closer to being that than to being a regular manual transmission.

Would I be an idiot for thinking that, in the case of the z32, the stock manual transmission is superior to the stock automatic transmission for anything that remotely pushes the car's boundaries? I think this is what most people are thinking of when they're discussing auto vs manual transmissions on the z32 forum.

Oh no didn't think you were angry at all. I just joined and am a little timid.

As of right now I have no clue what a manual valve body does for me
