Ok, so i recently got my 300zx NA; and about three weeks ago first gear and fifth gear started grinding a bit. First Grinds way more than fifth. all the other gears go in smooth! Does anyone know if it can be a tranny prob. or a clutch prob? I have had people tell me it's one thing then tell me it's another... Please Help me out. Thanks.

 

Does it grind at high rpm? Or low rpm when you shift in

 

well first gear grind on anything lower than 1.5 rpm, and 5th gear grinds on anything over 4 rpms.

 

The trans is going out. it will need rebuilt soon as it sounds like the synchros are going out.

 

Hmm that's what i though too. The one thing that i noticed is that it grinds only when the car is hot..
