Too much of a good thing!

So I spent yesterday removing the aftermarket security system from the car (See previous "No Start" Thread) only to find out that there wasn't just one, but two of them that were both active and wired into every conceivable circuit in the car! Holy Crap! What a frickin' PITA!. There was a "brain" with a manufacture date of 08/98 and another from 10/04... Both were wired back to the factory security module as well. I haven't seen that much spaghetti since I went to Italy! They were both obviously a professional install with an emphasis on invisibility and difficulty of removal/bypass. The fact that this car EVER started without the keyfobs to disarm them is a miracle. I can't believe the steps somebody went through to install those things. Anyway... They are gonzo. I have control of the car now! Sonsabeechez! No more stupid little frickin' "stick" touching the key cylinder nonsense just to get it to crank. No more "push this button while holding the key here and make sure you're left hand is out the window pointing north east with one eye closed" BS. Best part is... Massive weight reduction!!!!!

right on rod. now you can start to enjoy the thing, or hate it even more once you start to do the work it needs.

Actually, it was those suggestions that soildified for me to remove all that crap... Thanks. What a nightmare that was though. It was literally tied in everywhere. I've never seen such a thorough system before and I've seen some pretty good ones. It's no wonder now why I couldn't get past it. I think replacing the battery pissed it off enough to go into "FU" mode and there was just no way without the original fobs to disarm it/them. We tried "valet" mode for the one we knew was active but that disn't do it. I had no idea until I crawled up under the steering column that there were two of them. Somebody took security a little too seriously. Now I can get on with starting to fix this POS

Updates??? Does it start now, does it run?? Was it just the water pump or is the head gasket gone too?? Is it still a lawn ornament, or does it actually move now??

Not much to update... I haven't had much time to spend with it. I pulled CAS and PTU and all the connectors under the hood off and cleaned them all up then put them back on. It fired once and that was it. I have power to the ignition coil relay when I crank the key, but beyond that I have no spark. I have lot's of fuel though

I assumed that the night I drove it home, that something got wet because the relief plug on the top of the radiator was out to keep it from building too much presuure (Bad water pump remember?) and it did blow water and coolant pretty much everywhere. The negative battery cable was toast, so I replaced it. I still have no spark. What are the chances that either the CAS or PTU just died suddenly? Anyone have any ideas why I still have no juice to the coil packs? I don't want to spend a crap load of money on a CAS if I don't need one. I checked with Nissan, and all of the recall items had been cleared up already on the car according to the VIN, so that makes it a litlle less likely to be the PTU.

I don't know... Like I said, I haven't spent a great deal of time with it yet but the no spark thing is truly perplexing me. Anyone with an idea feel free to share...

I had a no spark issue and after hours of painstaking troubleshooting it was simply a bad connection at the PTU. Did you try to see if you are geting a spark? a way to check is to: remove one spark plug (still connected to the coil pack) and ground it on the engine. remove the CAS and with the ignition in "run" spin the CAS. you should hear all injectors cycle and you should see a spark. if not make sure you have the spark plug that is out on a good ground, recheck the connection to your PTU and selenoid and try a different coil pack and spark plug. if still no spark replace the PTU then selenoids then spark plugs then CAS. this should solve your problem.
As far as your overheating goes...did you check your engine temp sensor and thermostat?
