Timing Belt JUMPED OMG
Just wanted to let everyone know following any of my old posts. I've changed the timing belt with some help from a friend, i wanted to post 2 pix showing how many teeth the belt jumped and my car was running at around 65 degree's.
I've got 1 looming problem, it seems to be very weak on take off and sluggish. Also when slowing down and trying to get back in it , its extremely laggy. Almost was thinking fuel pump but i did a pressure test 44 on the dot, so im wondering if it's just because its been down for a few months it may need to be driven a bit.
anywho, for those with a jumped belt there is hope.
The timing belt took forever to do being new to the Z but followed the Field Service Manual and much help from here.
Thanks everyone.

Recheck your timing. I installed a belt once and was off by one tooth and it had the symptoms you're describing. Use a timing light and if the timing jumps around or is not near 15deg BTDC, I'd suspect the belt is off by a tooth on at least one of the gears.
Also check the high pressure turbo outlet pipes... it's easy to have them slip loose while tightening, creating a huge air leak.

second the belt, talon was a tooth off and was like that. but also if the belt jumped bad the firsttime you coulda mashed some valve so check the compression while you are at it, i didn't see you mention if you did any head work or compression checks.
