i dont think a supra can stand up to a z. ive read this many times, many places. i know someone with a modded supra thats running around 13.63 quarter miles.

i also read from some of these sources that the zs stock quarter mile is 13.7, however sources vary from 13.7 - 14.0

I haven't ran with one yet, so I'm not sure how I'd do against one, but our cars seem to be about equal, each having their strengths. Supra's tend to make high horsepowers numbers, but how much of that is streetable? How much of that actually gets used? the Z on the other hand tends to make more torque, torque is pretty much always streetable, as long as you know how to roast your opponent and not your tires. Just something kinda interesting. I'd like to run with one.

I gathered that he already sold it since he showed a pic of it in a later post and said that he misses it.

supra or 300z

ok, those guys on the supra form may know some stuff, but not like a true z owner who has driven one. they are talking about boost pressure, well if you up the boost on the z to 11psi the you will undoubtly have more power than the supra. the supra is a good car, but i would take my z over one any day!

IMHO...Supra's look cool and I wouldn't mind having one, but there's no comparison to a Z. Never has been. That's my opinion. So what, who cares? I'll never sell my Z, and it sure as hell will never be replaced by a Supra. Bare with me here....I feel some venting coming on.....Also, IMHO, any idiot can drive a car fast in a straight line. 1/4 mile times prove nothing. Take it to the track. I don't recall seeing Supra's dominate on the track the way Z's did. The car that Steve Millen drove was almost unbeatable. Another thing, who cares about what these cars can do with an automatic tranny? There's a reason why IRL, F1, Cart, NASCAR and every other racing series on the planet doesn't run automatics.......they're slooooooooooowwwwww. Only rice would hop up a turbo car with an automatic. The twin turbo with an automatic was designed for women. I'm sorry, but it's true. If you have a TT with an automatic, I mean no dis-respect, but it's my opinion. Automatics are less fun, more problematic and are so much slower. Why limit yourself right out the gates by purchasing an automatic. If you don't know how to drive one, then learn. It really is much more fun. Don't tell me that you live in high traffic areas and your calf gets tired. If that's the case, then drop the coffee and doughnuts and go the f-ing gym. I got tired of reaing through the 5 pages of whining. They're both great cars, everybody has their own opinions, get over it...Also, automatics are for sissies,..5 and 6 speeds are for racing. On a side note, the Z commercials were much better. So I was having this dream......

buddy of mine bought a 94 supra n/a last winter while i had my tranny out last winter to put a new clutch in, anyway he thought he was the big boss with his 20k supra with 18" momo's and a fly sound system. he pulls up at the light....he looks to his left, and there pulls up a metalic blue Z NA. he looks to the right and there comes hissing my buddy Tony's 600hp ztt. the light turns green, all three cars take off. Tony has no full traction until half way through the 3rd gear. my z's just screaming of massive torque. few seconds later 2 z's drive off while a supra is trying to catch up.

sorry about the story got little carried away. i ran 2 supras locally, and my na left them about 2 car lenght between the lights. they have inline six which should produce more torque, but nobody can match the Z drivers, bc every single Z owner that is serious about his car knows how to drive. also supras tranny is tiny compared to z's

Wrecker...you just reminded me of another reason to favor Z's over Supra's. Stereo capabilities. The Supra's have the absolute worst factory speaker locations. The speakers located in the doors wind up firing directly into your leg, or hip depending on how tall you are. I wonder what rocket scientist thought up that one.....nice goin' Ace! Plus, there's no room to put amps or subs. Supra drivers can hardly fit more than their purse in that thing.

91zxtt...Where did you end up locating your amps? I plan to upgrade in March and would like to explore different scenarios.

I have 2 amps (4ch + 2ch) which are pretty thin. I was thinking one under passenger seat and the other in the space occupied by the original rear specker\amp combo.

hey man what i did is i got two amps, one begind each seat. i am going for the whole staelth look in my car. i drilled the wholes in my door panels and put some infinity kappa tweeters....oh they make the sound so sweet. also all of my gauges are digital, and my cd player looks just black when i turn the car off. same with the gauges. i am redoing the interior into all black and i have some nice nismo seats to fit in it. so behind the seats is a perfect place for an amp

Thanks. I was thinking about behind the seats also for the amps...just have not had time to investigate the interior yet, as I am busy upgrading power train, gutting cats, etc.

How is the radiant heat on your backside from the amps when they start cooking?

I was also going to flush mount the tweeters in the door, as I did in my 280ZXT.

honestly i have never felt any heat from the amps....i went on a few long trips with my z and i still didn't feel any heat . i guess it could be good in the winter , but in the summer you just put your tops down and you have a custom intake system for your amps hehehe.

Are the amps mounted on top of the inclined carpet or under?

I have my amp mounted between the rear strut towers. It's a big amp so it takes up most of space there. This one amp powers all 8 speakers and the 1 sub. I've got a carpeted and ventilated cover over it so that it's completely hidden. I'll take a picture or two and try to get them posted. For some reason I've been having some difficulties attaching photos on this. How the hell do you attach a phot here? I'm sure I'll feel like an idiot when someone tells me how, but who cares. I'm good with cars, not computers.

Thx for the info. In regards to your photos, what kind of difficulties posting? Generally, it's a size issue with MB or pixels. You must reduce the size of the photo on your photo editor, if you have that software on your computer.

Your photos are stored in a file on your computer. For example, mine are main drive on my PC (C and from there I have separate folders for such items as DATA, PICTURES, Home repair records, etc.

I select my PICTURES folder and then double click on the desired photo I want to insert. For this site, I click on the "Browse" button for attach file and go thru the steps above to select my photo and double click on it.

I think your problem may be that you don't know where your pics are located in your computer memory.

The Windows Explorer is your file management system for your PC. The pics must be .jpg or .bmp format. Does this help?
