Some Questions
Some Questions
Alright guys, I've got some questions/concerns here, sorry for the length of the thread. Figured I'd post on this forum since it's been pretty dead around here and this site needs some signs of life.
Question 1: How can I use the digital climate controls instead of the manual controls? I've searched around and the only response I saw was that it was simply a P.I.T.A because of all the sensors.....but I'm wondering what is really involved? (if anyone has any idea)...I'm willing to go the P.I.T.A. route to possibly get a writeup going about it.
Question 2: My car is cutting out after I slow down to stop, say at a red light, as the RPM drops, instead of it dropping down to regular idle, the RPM just keeps falling until the car dies. It doesn't sputter much, just goes completely dead, it had only happened about twice in the 2 years I've owned this car, but happened again three days ago, and then twice again last night....so I'm getting concerned.
I've researched this, and a lot of ideas were around. IACV, idler, fuel pump, MAFS, CAS (wtf is that?), vacuum leak, power transistor...etc. I was just wondering where I ought to start checking for this problem or if anyone has any ideas? (not to mention I don't know what some of that crap is I just listed...so any suggestions please).
Question 3: Brakes & rotors are SHOT, I squeal like a damn freight train....just had a quick question for anyone who has tried the Hawk HPS pads and how they are in terms of lifespan (preferably w/ blank rotors)?
Thanks guys in advance.

Q #1: Good luck. :-)
Q #2: Always start with the basics. ECU Codes, Check/clean electrical connections, and check for vacuum leaks. Initially I'd say vacuum leak if you haven't had any of the original vacuum lines replaced. My car never died, but idle would drop to around 500 rpm then come back up. I'd also get alot of off-throttle popping out of the exhaust. After cleaning my t/b's and IACV the problem went away. I now clean them at every oil change. It could be as simple as a dirty air filter.
CAS= Cam Angle Sensor. It's the pick-up for you ignition timing. Adjusting it adjusts your ignition timing.
