quick help

i think a shop put 2 extra cats on my car. if you get down next to the car and look under it, you can see them just behind the wheel, somewhere around where the shifter is (but on the bottom of the car of course). they are like 2 inches off the ground or less, and scrape everything. ive looked under a few stock tt zs and never seen this. i do have an after market exhaust ... stillen ... but thats a cat back system right? so the stock cats are still there. am i right? the stock ones it looks like are just before the ones that were added, but i wanna make sure the ones im seeing are the stock ones and not just resonators. can anyone help?

I don't know why would they put 2 extra cats in... i mean did you pay for two more cats . i don't think a shop would do soething like that for free, since they do charge to put cats in, but then u never know. Pics would help out a lot. keep us updated

they did charge. i was told that it wouldnt pass inspection when i first got the car because it didnt have cats. i hadnt checked previousley, but i figured they knew what they were doing so they went ahead and did it. then i noticed scraping all the time and looked under the car. thats when i thought there might be something wrong.

this is a pic of the suspects...

there are two similar looking ones a little more towards the motor as well which im thinking are the ones that should be there....

anyone have pics of the bottom of a 300zxTT?

I'll take some pictures. What you have isn't right. Ther are 4 cats on these cars. 2 are located in the downpipe; which you can't see by looking under the car. The other two are located right in fornt of whhere your Stillen exhaust bolts to the factory exhaust. Anything else shouldn't be there.

I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight and post them on Monday.

Just look through the sheetmetal. The precats are located in downpipes which are the section of exhaust pipe that runs vertically between the engine and firewall. You can see them from the engine compartment. Find the turbos, then look past the past the turbos. Those are the precats. I'll take some pictures of them too. What you have isn't right.

After further review, your exhaust system has some issues. Here's what mine looks like from underneath.

thanks for the pics. so ... our cats are in the same place, but mine are low? big? wrong place all together? i dont know what to make of this. unless someone out there can make sense of this, im affraid im gonna have to take it to nissan and have them tell me whats going on. of course id rather not have to go to the dealer. you all know how that is ...

how is your car lowered? and how much? shocks/springs? a mechanic that looked at my car said that the front of my car is lower than the rest, duh, anyone can see that, but i thought it was due to saggy springs, cuz when i got the car it had bad shocks on it. hes telling me that there is an arm that is part of the suspension that has bolts that can be loosened and the car can be raised and then the bolts can be retightened.... whats going on here?

It's hard to tell from your pictures. The cats should be located right in front of the rear wheels. Could you jack up the car and take some pictures of the exhaust system from underneath. They definitely look low. It could be that you have a couple of broken exhaust hangers.

If you can, jack it up in the fron and take a few pictures from the front to the back from the front of the car, so that we can see the whole exhaust systme in one shot; otherwise it can be difficult to determine what exactly we're looking at. I'll be under mine this weekend, so I'll shoot a couple pics.
