I noticed my power steering was making a humming noise from low fluid. I put regular power steering fluid in and noticed the noise again and it has been leaking. Ive read that you are supposed to use ATF fluid. If this is the case what damage could i have caused? I did notice that excess fluid was on the outside of a cylinder tube but i couldnt find any cracks in the tube it self. any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe you will need to rebuild the steering column
