Power Steering High Press. hose replacement

What did ya'll who had a leak do? I got quoted $63 from autozone for a generic brand. also i looked into z1 motorsports and its 85 for my high pressure power steering hose sent in to be rebuilt and i suppose 170 if i don't send it in. Any other options other than oem?

Does anyone have a writeup for this or even advice or instructions before i attempt it?

Don't trust any generic brand for your Z. Go with the re-man hose from Z1. They send you the hose....you replace and send back the old one for a credit. That's what I did...it works fine.

I got mine from CarQuest for about $50, but I get everything for list. Really good quality, works great and no mess with sending the old hose back.

Back when I had my 240sx, I had one Made at a hose place. I took my old one in and they duplicated it in about an hour. That one cost about $80, but it was identical to the one I took off.

It's realitively an easy job. Just make sure to take off the correct line (opps ). Also, have a container ready to catch the fluid... DON'T reuse it... just replace with new.

Good luck.

You order the part, replace it with the new one, then you send the old one back and you'll get your core charge refunded.

My local repair shop tried that **** with me last year....put a damn generic hose on the PSP instead of a factory. It lasted about 2 days before it started making noise like I was low on power steering fluid, 2 days after that I actually called in sick so I could take it back and get it replaced because it was making so much noise I was emberrassed to drive during rush hour.

Z's do NOT like generic parts.

I've heard that installing bitchin' high pressure power steering lines will give you an additional 10hp at the wheels.

Save your money and just buy the reman hoses from Z1.
